Default 'National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation' Coming Soon

...This information corroborates the film's listing in Warner's Blu-ray package insert, meaning both high definition camps can set aside their grievances, sit together by the fire and recite Clark's infamous Christmas gripe in high definition before ringing in the New Year.
Outstanding.

I fully expect to see Batman Begins from Warner by Christmas time as well, and Polar Express. Warner's played this thing pretty fair, even if their BD releases come a little bit after the HD-DVD releases.

Definite purchase for me! Hopefully Paramount will add Planes, Trains And Automobiles to their slate in time for Thanksgiving. Be nice to have two holiday comedy classics in the first year.

I'd like to see Paramount throw down Scrooged with Bill Murray and see Disney pop off the two Tim Allen Santa Clause films in time for Christmas. That would be great, also.

Agreed on The Santa Clause movies. Lighthearted holiday family fun at it's best. Maybe there's a possibility since the third movie comes to theaters shortly.

It would be perfect. I'd flip out to have those movies in HD for Christmas this year.

With BD50 actually coming into play and developing better yields, I believe that we will begin to see more simultaneous releases with HD-DVD and BD. The transfers are the same, just the media is different. Warner and other companies won't even have to strip the extras or the audio anymore. Hopefully soon, it will be us complaining that the HD-DVD fanboys are holding us back with their 30gb format.

I too want Batman Begins on BD50 with all the the same content that HD-DVD got. Hopefully that's why we don't have it on BD yet. Some Christmas films would be great to watch on BD.

So funny, yet so true...by this time next year or eariler we could see just that happening. I don't want Warner playing it Too fair if it's just for the sake of HDDVD not having the space...it may require HDDVD to dissapear or WB to pull out support for that to happen though.

I have never seen this movie in its entirety, so now I will.

As for WB, I doubt they are holding anything back because of HD-DVD. After all, at this point in time, HD-DVD has proven to be the superior format when it comes to video quality and extras content.

Yeah, A Christmas Story is a great film, but not a "great looking" film. I'm sure the BD detractors would complain how grainy it looked even though that's what the original film looked like.

On the subject of Warner, they do somewhat favor HD DVD in *features*. Dolby TrueHD can be added to BD but they have yet to do that, and BD Java can do the IME but they won't add that either.

Pardon the bump, but I wanted to bump this thread and not the 25th Anniversary Edition thread. I was walking through Target and saw this Blu-ray (yes, the copyright 2006 edition) on the shelf, and I figured what the hell, I've watched this movie every year but have never owned it, so why not.

I get home and check the blu-ray.com review on it, and was a bit bummed to see the transfer wasn't that great (I didn't check the copyright date on the disc in the store) and saw there was a better transfer on the 25th Anniversary edition, and got even more bummed when I saw just how much the anniversary edition was going for on Amazon.

Then I saw an Amazon review from 2017 for this '06 edition of the film that said they actually got the newer transfer, even though all the packaging suggested the '06 transfer. The telltale sign is that if your version doesn't have the French track, then it's the newer transfer. Sure enough, I pop the disc into MakeMKV and it's the newer transfer, with the DTS-HD Stereo and the newer video transfer! So you may luck out buying this older version on a retail shelf today.

There's an even easier way to tell. If your disc is red, it's the new one. If your disc has artwork with Clarik on it then it's the old one.

You can very likely get the newer disc at Target in some of their Christmas themed packages. It should be available in this one that costs $7:

Does the disc have the Clark art on it or is it a plain red label?
