Unhappy Blu-ray comparison website?

Hey Blu-ray forum,

I'm not entirely sure if this is the right section for this but it seems the most fitting. I remember this website where you could compare all the different home video releases of movies with all these super high-quality screenshots. For example, you could compare the old Image release of The Terminator to the remastered MGM release. You could view them in reduced quality or full quality but no matter what, they'd take ages to load, and you'd be able to flip between the two discs you compared on the fly. I can't find this website anymore and can't remember the name. Any and all help is appreciated.

That site is an absolute lifesaver, and has spared my untold amounts of $ that I would have otherwise thrown away on ugly releases.

It's enabled me to avoid blu-rays that have been subjected to gross, revisionist urine-yellow and tealified digital grading (i.e., something like half of all blu-rays that get released, it would seem), and to find those that still have natural colours (blue skies rather than green skies, genuinely white whites rather than sallow whites, actual flesh tones rather than orange skin, etc.).

I also occasionally find good comparisons at dvdbeaver.com (which, despite the name, covers some blu-rays, as well as traditionally reviewing DVDs -- though that's also useful). Even if I don't agree with their written judgments, I can make my own decisions based on what I see in their caps.

I wish that there were more sites like that, or that caps-a-holic could somehow cover all releases.

Yeah, it rarely has the releases I'm interested in comparing, which is frustrating.

yeah it's no where near being comprehensive, and they removed some comparisons from the system a while back. I'd say it's 50:50 if they've got the exact comparison I'm interested in.

Wink The Whip and the Body - 88 Films vs kino Lorber

Hello everyone,

I hope you can help me.

I have a copy of The Whip and the Body, released by Kino Lorber in 2013. I have been meaning to purchase the 2023 release by 88 Films. Most reviews seem positive about this new transfer, but others were not as positive. One review says that older Blu-Ray transfers of this movie are actually better than the 88 Films one?!

I tried looking for screengrabs comparisons of the movie, but the only one I found on the website suggested on this thread was between 2 releases I'm not interested in.

Can anyone share any more information about this? Or is anyone aware of a website where I could compare the 2 transfers?

I really appreciate any help you can provide.

Kino's 2024 Blu-ray is sourced from same 88 Films release you're referencing, so you can use the screenshots from that review for comparison

They don't have screenshots. Mostly good for extras comparison, although they dabble in specs too.
