The only person that can answer that is CrazyBlue. He has three floor-standing Boston front speakers and 5 floor-standing Polk rear speakers.

Comparing ~ HS450 to TSi-300

The BOSTONS are A much fuller sounding speaker ! The low end is far better do to the passive radiators the BOSTONS have that the polks do not !
As far as the High end is concerned ~ The tweeters on the BOSTONS are much better at producing the high end sound levels . I have had both up front in the same situation & the high end on the BOSTON sounded much better !

IMPO ~ The BOSTONS are better at reproducing A more accurate sound than the polks ! It is also A cleaner sounding speaker !

I was not saying anything bad about polk either !

i kinda noticed the same thing in researching the boston speakers compared to alot of other speakers ive also come to relize in my opinion that the hs 450s sound better then alot of speakers that cost 4 times as much which makes them a real bargin

While I am very sure that you have given an accurate description here, I think you have to also look at what you are comparing. You're only comparing to polk's TSi line. The Polk line that would compare to those Bostons (including the passive radiator) would probably be in the RTi line.

But even then, the Boston's might still be better. I really like passive radiators. I wish they were used more.

I agree with what you are saying MacDaddy. But I have not listened to the RTi series speakers . I can only judge what I have listened to . As far as the Passive Radiators , The low end is so much stronger with them !

I would love to have those some day. I usually buy my Bostons after they are discountinued for the price drop. I will surely be watching for the Vistas after they drop in price. There is somebody on here that had the Boston Acoustics Vistas and some B&Ws in home for a demo and decided to go with the Vistas.

Bostons have a smaller, but very devoted following. I've always been a fan and have only owned Bostons. I like their overall sound, but really love the VR tweeters.

Which Bostons do you currently have?

I now have the E-series and love them. If you are interested in them I know of a great place to still get a incredible deal on them (They don't have the E100 towers though...6 FT monsters).

In the spirit of the thread I also like Polk Audio. I haven't heard the more recent lines, but a friend has some older (15 yrs or so) towers that sound incredible (especially with his 300 W/Ch Outlaw Audio amp).

I have the horizon series HS-450's for my front L/C/R . Can't go wrong with 3 matching speakers up front !
When the Vistas go down I would love to jump on that , $1,700.oo BOSTON for $1,000.oo would be all I would need to jump too !!

Your foolishness for 2009 has already surpassed the upgraditis quota. I forbid you to buy anything else until 2015.

The price on the horizon series is so low it leads me to believe they are closing them out ! Witch means they may be coming out with A new line !
MacDaddy was making A different point tho & all he was saying was I was comparing two speakers that where at 2 different levels rather than being close to the same !!

Crazyblue can answer this question prolly a lot better, but I have heard the Bostons once and would have bought them at CC liquidation if they had had a pair, but they only had one, I did prefer it over the TSi300s they had there. I don't remember what line of Bostons they were. I would talk with Crazyblue for a better answer.......
