Default Klipsch RB 81 woofer not working...

Just got my new Klipsch RB 81's today, and one of the woofers isn't working....double checked hook up and all wiring and it's fine. How's this for annoying!.....anyone had this happen with one of their reference speakers? Was it a quick fix?.......help?

just to check.

yes....tried re-terminating the wires too...Do you know if there are clips that attach to the drivers inside that might have come loose?
I bought these from advanced theater on e-bay BRAND NEW in sealed boxes with warranty cards, but I'm not sure if they are an authorized dealer, so I may have to bite the bullet on these and get them fixed.....these are hours old........?

its not the reterminating the wiring, try to swap the speakers out, using the same cables for the other speaker, and use it on the current 'broken' speaker.

how was the condition of the box before you opened it? sealed?

it might be damaged, sadly, on the inside if ever. do verify if the seller is an authorized distributor.

for the meantime, lets take it step by step.

Tried all of that too.Not sure the seller is an authorized dealer....they were new in sealed factory boxes with warranty cards.E-mailed Klipsch and he said to check the tightness of the terminals. they were tight...? Wonder what it could be?

Back it up just a bit. How do you know it's not working? What are you listening to- is the driver getting any vibration/movement at all? What is your crossover setting at? Any chance it's out of whack and sending all the bass to your sub?

As Jomari asked, have you tried swapping the wiring over to a different one?

You'll need to open the back of the speaker where the wires connect or take out a speaker to check the internal wiring. In all likelihood a wire fell off inside the cabinet. No need to send out or pay anyone to do it for you. I own Klipsch RF5s and opened up the cabinet to have a look inside and it's pretty easy to do.

I'll try tonight when I get home......hoping it's just an internal "clip" that came loose or something....

id swap out the speakers first, and see if you'd get the same results.

personally, id avoid opening it until we can max out external problems firsthand. its easy to open, but hard to 'seal' it back.

I meant to say open the cabinet, not the speaker itself.

Meh. There are some that definitely confirm to this belief (and some are guys who's opinion I really respect here) but I personally don't believe it.
