Default Yanni Voices!

So, one of my friends is a hip hop dj and he put me on to this producer named Yanni. I was told that he IS music production per se. So I went to www.yanni.com, found some tour dates and music videos. I must say I've never heard someone combine classical music, world, and electronica all together. I just listened to the whole Yanni voices..this is the definately the definition of a music producer!

YANNI is the best composer in the world. Does anyone have any idea when YANNI VOICES might hit blu-ray?

Then you surely haven't seen his concerts where thousands of his fans are in the same place!
You probably listen to Beyoncé or Avril Lavinge and you may not be familiar with serious musicians, but I can assure you that Yanni is so good that even if you listen to him you'll like his music. Yanni has millions of fans all over the world.

I've never sat all the way through a single song by Beyonce or Avril Lavigne, and have no plans to do so, unless I'm at gunpoint. Even then, I'd insist that a couple of rounds be fired off, just to prove it's loaded, and to give me time to put in some earplugs.

Nothing against Yanni. I've seen his work seriously marketed in the past (they had three minute late night infomercials on television for his albums) and I certainly don't want to tell anyone what to listen to. I prefer Coltrane, Steely Dan, Hendrix, Pavarotti, Pink Floyd, Marvin Gaye, folks like that.

you don't need to tell the rest of the world how good your taste in music is.
If you don't know about Yanni you don't have to post in his topic.

Not to mention the words "yanni" and "hop-hop DJ" in the same sentence...

No one needs to tell the rest of the world about anything. I have no idea if I have good taste in music. I just listed some artists I like, and they don't include Beyonce or Avril LaVigne.

I do know who Yanni is, and he is perhaps the only artist I know who has sold his music through television infomercials, with one exception: Liberace. I've seen collections of hits from a certain era sold that way, like big band, or classical, or early rock and roll. I've seen Christmas music sold that way.

But I've never seen a single artist marketed that way, like a commodity. I'm not used to it, but I'm an American, and familiar with American media and advertising. It wasn't his songs or music being marketed - it was his persona, and his fan base. It was kind of odd.

He played various wind instruments, but the "pan pipes" were a big deal. I wasn't sure why - but he would play in front of crowds (while smiling, and it must take real talent to smile and play any flute at the same time) and there was lots of rhythmic rocking back and forth, a real leader-follower sort of thing going on. That's how all this was sold.

Anyway, I'm sure you like his music, and I'm a firm believer that people should enjoy what they like. It's just that of everyone I know, with wide, eclectic tastes in music, I have not met one person who professes an interest in Yanni.
