Question Best Photo Sharing Website?

I have been looking around trying to find a decent site. I read the review that had listed the top 10 for 2009. With Photobucket being number 1. No thanks on that. Second place was Flickr - which I really like and am thinking about going with.

What do you all think? I just want to be able to share my photos and all that good stuff. I have also tested Flickr with my iPhone and uploading photos is a real snap. I also like the layout much better. Cheaper too if I ever want to go "pro". Which I might do from the get go.

Tell me what you all think. Interested in hearing.

I've been pretty satisfied with flickr for a few years now.

Yeah, I did kinda answer my own question. Lol. I guess I am just looking for affirmation. I would love to order prints, but don't trust the quality of some of these online places. I did the CVS thing one time - the nastiest looking pics ever. I only go to one place and they are local. It's a bit of a drive - but the prints are perfect every single time. Deep, rich, colors! None of that washed out crap.

I use Photobucket and have been satisfied with it. Pretty much the only reason I use it though, is so I could create my HT gallery. I've never tried Flickr, but it sounds like you like that one the best so I say go for it.

I use flickr and have been really satisfied with it. I like the look and feel of flickr better than photobucket, which I tried, but stopped using.

I use Photobucket because it was the first I tried. I rarely upload photos, though.

I use Webshots, but I wouldn't recommend it. The premium membership isn't that expensive, but they are probably the least 'connected' (cellular uploads, iPhone compatibility, etc) on the web. They claim Facebook connectivity, but when you click on the FB icon, it just posts a link to your album on your FB page.

Plus, there's no easy way to re-download your collection from them, aside from going picture-to-picture and saving each one. So, not the best if you consider an online pic site as a 'back-up' location.

Finally, I have ordered prints from them once...never again. They were printed on Kodak paper, but the photos themselves looked almost tin-like in appearance, with washed out skin tones especially noticeable (even my non-tech savy mom said they looked like crap).

Lots of comments. I like it. Gives a real world idea of what people are using and what they like/dislike.

Yeah, seems the top 3 sites are the ones that have all the good "connectivity" and such. Your story on ordering prints online, is the main reason I do not. Terrible.

Thanks for the info!

Mpix for the win if you want online ordering and shipping. Ritzpix is you want online ordering and one-hour pickup at a local store. Always remember to choose 'no color correction' for your prints, especially if you use photo software on your computer.

I did the RitzPix thing a couple times. There WAS a store right down the street. It closed down due to "bad economic times". Problem was they priced themselves out of the market. I was not impressed with their photos. Washed out and the color was lack luster.

That's probably why they closed it. The one near me does great prints. I have got to know them so they know exactly how to process my prints.

Thats good. Yeah, thats probably why they closed. Sad really. Looks like they had the same equipment as the place that does my prints right. Oh well.

Flickr I found ok, but don't they limit the number of pictures you can upload per week or month or something?

Even though I probably wouldn't reach that limit, I just found it somewhat annoying.

Photobucket is sort of the same way. I think they limit you to 1gb. But I still use it because I don't upload pictures at all, other than pictures I made in PhotoShop, or things like that, so it's ok to have.

If I ever want to post a picture, but don't want to hotlink it from another website (like when I post pictures on this forum), I usually just upload it to ImageShack, which works fine, because ImageShack doesn't require an account, so I don't have to worry about ever running out of space (and since I'm only posting the pictures as jokes in forums, it's not like I ever care to see them all again, so I don't care if I lose track of the ImageShack URL).

Anyhow, of the 3, I think Flickr might be the best for people who actually care to upload pictures. It seems the easiest to access on a phone, or to integrate into a website (WordPress has plenty of Flickr widgets).

The Picasa application is by far the best photo organizing software I've used on a PC. I also prefer the web sharing interface of Picasa to other sites, because it is simple, clean, and ad-free.

Well, I went with Flickr. I loved the interface, simple and clean. I also went pro. $25 bux a year, can't argue with that

I have several hundred photos up there now. Check them out. Thanks all for the input here - it did help!

Not sure about all the Fantasia stuff, but your vintage photos are very cool. Are they family or just old photos that you have found?
