Well I finally picked up a reciever tonight, but it wasnt the one I wanted. My dad pretty much talked me into the 519 for whatever reasons, and I just got done watching a few blue on it. I have a few questions. I am a complete noob when it comes to setting up a reciever and here is how I am set up as we speak. I have my cable box running hdmi directly to the tv as I dont want to run the stereo all the time to watch tv so I just set it up directly. I run my PS3 to the reciever HDMI and then the reciever out hdmi to the tv. My question is, it doesnt seem like I am getting much sound if any out of my two rear monitor 30s. The front stage sounds very good with the speaker settings at either large or small. Am I missing something here on the reciever or the ps3? For some reason I am expecting the surround sound feeling to be well felt by the two rear speakers, but you hardly notice they are there. Watched bondock saints and italian job. Italian job sound good and bondock saits sounded okay, I know that BS is recorded in DTS-HD but I should still be able to hear out of my two rears... right?

This question should actually be a thread title of reciever setup. I have no idea what I am doing. Does anyone have any inputs? I just was expecting my setup to sound alot better than what it does. If it makes a difference I do not have a powered subwoofer yet, as its my last thing on the list. Not sure if this will have an effect on my rear surrounds and the light sound output they have..... any ideas?

When you are watching a movie on the PS3 and you press the 'Display' button, what is the PS3 saying it's playing?

thats a good question! Ill have to go back home and check that out tonight. I know I am set up on the ps3 to just play the PCM through HDMI, other than that I have not messed with any other settings and just use the auto detect surround sound button the reciever

Just got done reading the manual alittle online and it sounds like I need to set up the distance between the listening area and the speaker and to adjust the channel level up or down accordinly... does this sound right?

I'm going to return this thing. After looking at the two comparisons this reciever will not play any of the HD audio that most blue-rays will output. So I say, whats the point in setting up a PS3 and running it through this?! Def not blue-ray friendly I am learning
