I was a fan of both as a kid and watched them a few years ago.

Labyrinth seems to stand up well and was interesting but Dark Crystal was a bit dull, my wife and I were both like "why did we love this so much when we were young?"

I can't remember which soundtrack is on my DVD.. but it is AWESOME. One of the best analog synth soundtracks in any movie!

Calm down, that's obviously not the final price. Amazon typically discounts about 35% on new releases, this will street for about $22 on release day.

I think a lot of people buy childhood films simply out of nostalgia, then end up hating them. I honestly have not seen either movie since probably the early 90s/late 80s For that reason, I'm definitely not going to run and purchase them right away.

Can they digitally remaster videos of puppets?

Will we see all the puppet strings now that it's in 1080P?

They can always give it the "Official George Lucas CGI Upgrade Treatment"

Seriously though, I would be interested in The Dark Crystal. I haven't seen it since I was a kid.

I hope they do a better remaster than the collectors DVD. The separation between the superimposed composites and background was to drastic, just like the star wars remaster. They need to color correct so that it does not ruin the special effects this time.

They did. They did a hi definition master for the 25th Anniversary Editions, which came after the collectors edition. PQ improved dramatically.

Are you kidding? Jerry Goldsmith's original score (which was featured in the European version and Ridley Scott's Director's Cut) is vastly superior to the synthetic, lifeless Tangerine Dream score. Anyway, I hope Legend makes it to BD soon.

I agree, Goldsmith's is much better. However, if you grew up watching the movie with the Tangerine Dream score, I could see how one could prefer it.

I hope the commentary on 25th Edition of 'The Dark Crystal' is retained, I'm getting ready to sell of that copy once I read a confirmation.

I have the Superbit version of The Dark Crystal and was a bit disappointed in the PQ. Will gladly buy this on Blu-Ray.

And I LOVED the Tangerine Dream soundtrack on this one. Gladly not the ever repeating, all sounding alike typical John Williams/[fill in name] peddle, who terrorized film scores in the late 70s and throughout the 80s.
