Default Center for Monitor 60's?

I just won a new pair of polk monitor 60's for $220 and I'm planning on upgrading my center too. I was planning to get the CS1 because I was also planning to get the monitor 50's, but now should I stick with the Cs1 or go for the Cs2? Do you think the Cs1 is at the par of the 60's? I'm sure the Cs1 will suffice but I don't want it to be out played.

Dont skimp on your center it really brings the whole front together. I would suggest the CS20 it is on a good sale right now for 199$ :

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882290107

Otherwise I think the CS2 is worth it over the CS1. I think the CS1 is more on part with the Monitor 50s.

You should get the CS2, as it has 6.50" drivers, which are bigger than the 5.25" drivers on the CS1. This is still timber matched as well, and although they are bigger drivers than the 60's 5.25" drivers, the difference will be hard to hear. There is little difference between the CS20 and CS2, besides the cabinet being a shiny laquer on the sides of the CS20. The CS2 is an excellent center channel and the price currently on NewEgg is only $119 (regularly $300) so that saves you over $180 and you'd be spending $80 more just for the shiny laquer on the CS20. They are in stock too!

Good luck!

yeah it would be either cs1 or 2 not the cs10 or 20 for the fact that I don't want the L/R to be different aesthetically than the center.

Forsberg, tired of the jersey picture?

Well, hockey season is over, so just like a player cleaning out his locker for the off season, so did I with the avatar. I'll bring it back next October. However, that new pic is my new sub that should be shipping out today......much nicer to look at too!

CS2 my friend. It sounded great out of the box, but after a couple weeks, Personally, I thought in a "few" instances, it sounded hollow or boxey (could just be my ears or set-up, or the location, whatever). So I put some polyfill (that dreaded word again! lol) in both sides behind the woofer/drivers, and it really tightened up the AUdio very nicely (see my posts on this subj. in the Polk Audio SPeakers thread for what I did, how, the results, etc.). Good luck!

It's actually the CS10, but it's really the same as the CS1. It does a fine job of handling dialogue and I like the size of it too. It just fits to the bottom of the TV without blocking it. The CS2 or CS20 are that much bigger, and I would then need to completely re-arrange the entertainment center. It matches the T90's very well, and even better since I used the SPL meter, because at times I felt the T90's may have been "over powering" and making the center channel a bit "muddled" to hear at times.

I have to Agree, that the CS2 will be a much better choice to use with the Monitor 60's.
The CS1 would work well also, but only if you were really tight on funds.

I chose the CS10 because I went with the TSi400's.All my speakers came from an In-House Credit Card at HH Gregg.I would have gone for the Monitor 50's or 60's if I would have bought them from NewEgg.So the need to get the CS10 to match the TSi400's left me unable to go with the CS20.

The vocals are perfectlly fine with either center(CS1/CS2)but the special effects will have much more emphasis and power with the CS2.The (2) 6 1/2 inch woofers will carry the center channels bass lower then the (2) 5 1/4 inch woofers can.

So,for overall strength of sound and ability for your home theater to take it one step further the CS2 will be the speaker to take you there.

Just be sure you have the room for it.The CS1/CS10 is a Big Speaker,so you can imagine the CS2/CS20 is bigger. So,its worth the attempt to make room for the CS2 to get the Best Results Overall.

And I will say it for the 20th time.I still feel as if the CS1/2:CS10/20 are the best performing Center Channel Speakers for their price.

sometimes i feel like my center is too powerful for the t90e's
LONG LIVE THE CS1

i was going to get a cs2, but why would i need a blockier center to do the exact same thing as my current CS1?!

Thanks for the input, I have to think about this one because I'm also buying a sub, you actually helped me picking one, the Acoustic Audio, but I saw this deal on the monitor 60's and couldn't pass on. I'm gonna try looking for a good deal on the cs2 if not, based on your input I think I might settle for the Cs1.

By the way, good luck with the new sub....pics expected

Because Aerodude has set the bar pretty high with Polk upgraditis and has set a perfect example of why we all should follow.....

That AA is a great bang for the buck. I am sure you will enjoy. When you get it, don't forget to post in the thread so Big Daddy can update the owners list that he does for that thread.

I would really get the CS2 right now. That deal is sick. It is only $40 more than the CS1, and you are getting plenty more than $40 back for your investment, Surely you can kick up an extra $40 for the CS2....you will have second thoughts if you don't.....the deal on NewEgg is really that good! Unless it is too big for your TV stand?

- Lmao. THIS coming from someone who's waiting delivery on a $500+ New Sub, huh? - $$$$ wise, i'll be done with "Gear" for a while after this latest Mon. 40 pickup. Just some wire maybe, plugs, maybe more foam for my ceiling & couple other spots (so I can get CLOSE to "CrazyBLUE" territory - wait; is that even possible? Jkg!), but really so I can CRANK it w/out bothering my neighbor - I live in a small duplex, so I have to be considerate. At times...

OFF TOPIC / OFF TOPIC (btw, the ones you showed me were Way too much $$$ for what they offered in qty. & size - 4 panels for $100-something?!) - I hope to have New (Final? ) pics up this wk-end or so. Until, that is, I get some more foam w/fabric covers on them, that is.

Now: back ON TOPIC: How many here have Polyfilled their Centers, and was it a Noticeable improvement? Whether it's a CS1, CS10, CS2, CS20. - Not that this is really On topic tho', huh?
