Default Monitor 70 and 30's or 60's and 40's

Basically i have enough to get the following

Monitor 70 fronts and monitor 30 rears

Monitor 60 fronts and monitor 40 rears

Center will be CS2 either way

newegg has the 70's for $400 for pair shipped, and the 30's for $100 shipped
amazon has the 60''s for $300 for pair shipped, and the 40;s for $190 shipped

unless i can find a good deal on both then i can either do one of those options, only have about $600 to work with for the speakers (sub and reciever are seperate) (reciever is more than likely going to be the onkyo 606 which on that i wonder if going from the monitor 60s to the 70's is worth it? also is there really any good reason to get the 40's over the 30's for the rears?)

I'm in the same situation you're in, I'm deciding on whether to buy Monitor 60's or 70's. I've heard a lot of people say that the 70's are worth the extra cash, but also heard from a few that the Monitor 60's aren't very far behind. The 70's definitely have more bass, and are very nice for the price (also, you can get the 60's for 250/pair on amazon here).

I'm actually not buying bookshelves as my rears, but I looked into them for my sides and everyone has told me that if you have enough room for them, definitely get the 40's. They're supposed to put out better sound and have a lot more bass than the 30's. If I were you, I would get these:

Monitor 40's and the Monitor 70's

So that's 500 bucks right there

edit, just realized those 40's were open box, so if you wanted new ones, I found them for $150 shipped on eBay, so that would be $550 total for you

I bought the M70's off newgg on black friday when they had them on sale for $179 each. Total came out to $386 because of tax.

Still havent had a chance to hook up these speakers with my Denon 2809 AVR receiver because I'm waiting to move into my house in 2 months.

Still need to get either CS2 or CS10 center speaker and sub woofer.

For surrounds I am looking at getting the Paradigm ADP-390's .

The 60's you can get from Polk Direct on ebay refurbished for $199.00 shipped

Nevermind, that is for the 50's.

yeah i was looking at those open box 40's from newegg but they were gone before i could order them

and the $600 i have is for the fronts rears and center (if it goes a little over cause of shipping costs thats fine but the actual cost of the speakers needs to be under $600

The 40's are really nice for surrounds. I'm still surprised when a nice amount of bass comes through them, and I've had them for a couple months now. Another option would be to go with tower speakers like the 50's as surrounds, but that's your own choice.

Another way to pick these up is to do the live.com cashback with "Buy it Now" through Paypal. I'm getting $70 on an already solid purchase thanks to that. I got my 60's and 40's through ebay new. Either Polkdirect or one of the resellers have some fantastic prices on there.

I have heard some things about the tweeters on the 70's. Personally, I doubt it's much of an issue, but if you do get them, please get them from somewhere that gives you a warranty just in case!

The CS2 is a fantastic speaker for the price as well. I'm very happy with my setup (though I am planning on upgrading the sub next year).
