Default Should i replace monitor 40's with tsi300's?

Got a set of monitor 40's for my rear right now but i see a really good deal on the tsi300's and was considering on replacing the bookshelfs with these floor standing speakers. OR i could go from 5.1 to 7.1? Would i notice much difference going from the 40's to the tsi300s how much better is 7.1 compared to 5.1

I would go with floorstanders before going to 7.1. 7.1 is a mixed bag. I truly enjoy it, but with the limited availability of true 7.1 content, you'll garner more benefit from floorstanders in general. However, I am not familiar with those particular speakers.

You're honestly not going to notice much difference between those speakers in my opinion. The towers have a bit more bass extension and that's about it. The sound is the same for the most part. I wouldn't consider that much of an upgrade.

Aramis109 is right. Same speaker...different package. The difference you see on a spec sheet don't really fall through as audible in the real world setting.

yeah i was just thinking too it was a chance to get rid of my ugly speaker stands, and i can get the tsi300s for $200 for the pair, i could probably sell the monitor 40's for a decent bit since they are hardly used and heck i still have the boxes for them, or i might consider 7.1

TSi300's - Newegg - $199/Single (Not for a Pair) -- I checked earlier today for the same ones, and thought, "Great Deal - $199/pair", but it says clearly "Single"

7.1 is worth it if you have the room my old set up was not optimal but it made a good differnce especially for music and games like Resistance 2 and Dead Space.Your rear channels should at least be 3ft from your listening position and above ear level though.
