I bi-amped my two Monitor 70s today using the rear surround/bi-amp channels on the RX-V663, and it sounds amazingly better. As somebody told me, you don't need really nice surrounds unless you listen to a LOT of music. The 30s work great for me.

All you have to do is bi-amp one and not the other, and then compare. For the 70s there's a huge difference, but that might be more due to the fact that it has that extra woofer. The bass was WAY better, and there was also a considerable amount more clarity. What receiver are you using?

Onkyo 605.
Problem with doing that is that it's not a true comparison between the two- you're comparing one that's getting the full range vs. the other that's only getting the highs. (Highs being sent via one wire and lows via the bi-amp'd connection.) Once you select "bi-amp" in the receiver, it splits the signal for both, regardless of how you hook it up. The only exception to this is if there's some special/different setting on your Yammy that my Onkyo doesn't have. |
