Yeah love The Smiths, still haven't gotten through the Autobiography but loved Morrissey & Marr: Severed Alliance when I was younger.

If you could give me a heads up on how to contact someone with this replacement disc problem it would be great to have a easier menu to navigate.

I bought mine brand new from Amazon, and it's the Japanese one. Works fine, but the menus are hard to navigate.

Exclamation Japanese 'Getaway' BD

I have also found the Japanese 'Getaway' BD in the McQueen three-pack (purchased from Amazon). Did any of you resolve this issue?

This appears to be out of print. Amazon has had it as temporarily out of stock for months now. Even the UK release is

It looks like it is available as part of a triple feature with The Cincinnati Kid and Bullitt, but that is it (at a reasonable price point). Any word on a stand alone reissue?

It was released by Warner Bros., wasn't it? So, little hope of an Arrow/Criterion/Indicator special edition.

Apparently Tarantino has the longer workprint of the film in his personal collection.

There is a scene when Sally Struthers is asked to remove her bra by the bad guy in bed. I thought they show her remove it when I saw this back on video in the 80s'. Anybody know about this?

Old post but do you mean that Tarantino has an actual workprint of The Getaway? How did he get that and what are the differences between it and the theatrical release?

I never heard of a longer workprint. How do you know that? Just curious.

Watched The Getaway again recently for the first time in many years and had almost completely forgotten how flat out excellent it is. Things like the clever editing techniques used at the start of the film. Then the whole train sequence. And the sense of the vastness of the terrain and remoteness of some of the locations combined with the immediacy of the violence.

Picture quality on the Warner Blu-ray is decent and sound was OK.

Just superb, essential filmmaking for those who love 70s crime/action thrillers. No surprise though with the talent involved (screenplay from Hill).

Both this and Junior Bonner deserve a higher status in Peckinpah's oeuvre.

It is when Sally Struthers I thought was super hot and her cruel way in the movie was something else!

Yeah.. The Getaway.. is Top 3 McQueen for me. Along with Papillon and Nevada Smith.

Will we eventually see ... The Getaway .. on 4K? Probably not in the near future since Warner's rollout of great catalog 4K has been abysmal.

And don't get me started with ..Nevada Smith.. and .. Paramount. This film still has never seen a blu-ray release. It's criminal.

Her scenes and acting style gave an extra dimension to the film!

Always liked those other two films. And McQueen in the The Cincinnati Kid too.

The Getaway would be great on 4K.

Official Trailer: The Getaway (1994) - YouTube
I actually just realized that the 1994 remake of "The Getaway" has never even been released in North America on Blu-ray. I've actually never watched the 1994 remake but will put it on my to-do list. Of course, I really like the Steve McQueen original.

There's a region free blu-ray release from Germany. It's the theatrical release only though.

The 1994 version of the Getaway was surprisingly good. It helps that they pretty much used the same screenplay as the original, just with a few tweaks plus more sexual explicitness (at least in the extended version).

Yep, watch the unrated version, Baldwin gives a hell of a performance, James Woods at his sleazy best , Phillip Seymour Hoffman gives an early performance and Jennifer Tilly is super sexy as f! In it.

This (the original) is slowly becoming one of my favorite movies. I watched it for the first time last year and have seen it 2 more times since.
