God dammit I only just got the Blu of this last week.

Definitely in for a 4k though, this movie already looked stunning on Blu, can't wait to see what the UHD will be like.

I don't understand why Paramount dumped this to Kino Lorber for a 4K UHD release. It will probably be one of Kino Lorber's biggest UHD's ever. It's baffling. I'll take it though, long overdue.

You're talking about this like it's some legendary classic that grossed a bazillion dollars. It's none of those things. But it's a hellaciously fun flick and I'm verr glad we're getting it on UHD disc and with both cuts too (which Paramount themselves may well have stiffed us on had they released it on disc). Hell, the way things are going this will likely have betterer compression than if Par did it themselves. Kino gonna put some tiger balm on this jungle's nuts

Yup. We have a similar experience, for sure. I used to obsessively consume special features and commentaries. Used to LOVE knowing all that stuff. And now I wish I didn't know so many details for the reason you mention.

You'd think with all the times people have found themselves saying "oh wow, I didn't think this would get released today", they'd finally cotton on to the fact that the thing they're complaining about only exists in their own heads.

Now that Kino have announced a 2nd Ben Stiller movie in 4K (after Mystery Men), it’s giving me hope that Zoolander 4K might also be part of this new Paramount deal. Fingers crossed!

Apparently politics were invented after this movie came out.

While we're at it let's see what else wouldn't have been made today. A sequel to Borat? Jojo Rabbit? Imagine making The Boys or South Park today... yeah, there's no way they'd get away with that.

I Frankenstein-ed my own blu ray double disc set of Tropic Thunder with the US Director's Cut release, and the Japanese Theatrical Cut release (which is weirdly nowhere to be found in this site's database). Very excited to retire it if Kino does indeed come through with both cuts in 4K. And I'd be over the moon if we also get a Zoolander 4K further down the line.

So this should have auto resume since kino is handling the disc? This is one thing i hate about paramount discs never having.

It's gotta be because of the character RDJ played. It's why so many people here are surprised It's even getting released. Paramount lacked the cumquats that Kino has.

It actually makes really good sense, too. Kino can claim to be preserving cinema and bringing a movie to the masses that otherwise wouldn't come out. That's right up their alley

It isn't only in our heads because episodes of shows continue to get pulled, and actors who played the "offending characters" have to publicly apologize for their previous work or get canceled.

We *wish* it only existed in our heads. But no, it's real.
