People seem to forget that there were protests when this movie came out. The answer to the "can it be made today" question is yes. It can be made today. It was met with protests then, and it would now. People just have to understand the context of the satire.

Guess Universal didn't have the cajones to release Dune 1984 in 4K because it was such an bomb theatrical. Or perhaps Arrow/KL offered a better licensing deal than doing it themselves for a cult film. Good thing since they did provide pretty good releases.

There have been a few rather limited instances of some episodes for a few shows being pulled due to extremely egregious conduct perpetuated by certain actors in their personal or professional lives and not for the characters they were portraying.

Not exactly a dramatic trend to be overly riled up by but some peeps sure love their disproportionate undue persecution complexes.

Anyhow perhaps I am wrong and in this current environment Blazing Saddles couldn't be made today....

The Simple Jack stuff wasn't generally received (by the humor-impaired) any better than the RDJr stuff, as I recall.

I'll have to set aside a few other items on ye olde Kino wishlist to order along with this so I can get free shipping, because I am definitely upgrading my DVD as soon as this comes out!

Blazing Saddles couldn’t be made today, because the two leads are dead.

Now, if you recall that whole hullabaloo where hollywood was split into schisms, some studios backing blu-ray disc, others backing hd dvd. People thought it would come down to pixel rate or refresh rate, and they’re pretty much the same. What it came down to was a combination between gamers and porn. Now, whichever format porno backs is usually the one that becomes the uh most successful. But, you know, sony, every playstation 3 has a blu-ray in it.

I hope Mystery Men comes pretty soon. It was soft announced a bit before this.

To be fair: only two movies have come close to capturing its spirit: Django Unchained and Cannibal: The Musical.

I just wish you could pre-order multiple movies from Kino and they would ship each movie as they release. I'm temped to order a few titles but I'd prefer to not have to wait until everything in the order is released to get them all.

Wondering what the supplements situation is going to be/wanting to sell that Par BD ASAP.

"Full Mags" features some remarkable improvisation and actor stamina. Stiller simultaneously directing the (repeated) performances that he's participating in (while sometimes breaking character due to RDJ hilarity) is great stuff. Didn't get to "Additional Full Mags" while BD-Live was still active (is it disabled for all discs/studios now?).

Can anyone who saw "Additional" confirm that it was/is this Jack Black scene?

I asked KL about including the missing features that were only included on DVD and BD-LIVE. They responded that they're going to be announcing the full list soon. Here's hoping...

Thank you.

Of course at some level I am/should be happy KL responds to consumer inquiries at all. But I wish they would responsively reply instead of doing this kind of baiting. I see plenty of it in that other thread, too.

Is it the Circuit City exclusive version's content what's "missing" (and by that I suppose you mean 'missing from the Par BD'?).

The circuit city "exclusive" wasn't on disc. See https://forum.dvdtalk.com/dvd-talk/5...ml#post9084480

The Director's Cut 2 disc DVD had:
"'Full Mags' improv footage" featurette (33:18)
"Video Rehearsals" featurette (3:04)

Both were also exclusively BD-LIVE. The Full Mags on the Blu-ray was 11:14 so its a difference of about 22 minutes.
