Candyman 4K UHD (2021)

Funny, just yesterday I saw a 2-pack of this and the original at Wal-Mart. It was only dvd though and now looking around the listings here, seems dvd was the only format the 2 were released together on. Guess Universal never did their own HD scan cuz the first film was bare-bones just like the old dvd.

I also checked out the BD from the library while waiting out the 4K disc to take a price drop to reasonable ($30.99 at BB, nowhere else local, only a couple bucks cheaper online) and holy shit! I loved it in the theater, think I love it even more now. The BD does look excellent too. That long shot of the bridge in Chicago made me feel like I was back in town!

The second that 4K goes under $20 it's gonna be mine.

It really is an attractive piece of cinema. Same here, I'll wait for a bit of a price break, and then happily add a couple copies of the 4k uhd to my film library.

Well, I was also waiting for a price drop and it finally hit $20 on Amazon.ca yesterday so I pulled the trigger. This was a really great movie, I liked it almost as much as the original.

For any interested Canucks, this is still $20 on Amazon. I assume you'd still get a slip as it's still a relatively new release. I guess I'll find out today lol, it's out for delivery.

In case anyone missed it, this took a nice price drop to $12.99 on Amazon. Sadly, my Best Buy and every other store in town no longer has any 4K copies, just BD and dvd (at Wal-Mart of course). So I had to order from A. It was back-ordered and took a week or so (my wife has Prime so usually it's a day or 2 tops) but it came today, still with slip.

EDIT: shit, I see the prices on Amazon now and have to guess they sold out and now people think it's OOP or something. I did not post the above to rub it in, I was seriously trying to help! Hopefully it comes back that cheap soon, seriously doubt the 4K is OOP already.

Agree to disagree. I love it and thought it did justice to the original that neither of the other "sequels" even came close to. In fact, the other movies are just "multiverse" stories to me now.

The 4K HDR / 5.1 version is available to stream via PRIME.

Got my $12.99 Amazon copy. Maybe because I called and complained about a couple recent discs arriving damaged, they shipped this in a box. It was rattling around in there with no air pillows or anything, but arrived with mint slip! So I have the '92 original UHD, Part 3 Vestron BD, and this one slipped. Part 2 feeling left out.

No, only Warner has made the effort to adhere to their "expiration" dates. Universal codes generally do not expire (for now).

And man this disc is gorgeous. Filmic and pristine and the colors and HDR are just perfection, that scene when she’s running in the tunnel…wow.

I saw this back to back with Candyman 4K 1992 and it’s just perfection. That disc rocks also.

Now, I might be misremembering things here, but does anyone recall if the 1080p disc was one of those studio releases from this era where, during the end credits, it would abruptly begin that countdown in the corner of the screen to skip the credits (a la streaming shows)?

I could have sworn this title featured that when I watched it back in late '21/early '22 - I'd never seen it before on a disc, and it stood out like a sore thumb here due to the shadow puppet display that runs alongside the credits - but rewatching it on a whim last night I was pleasantly surprised to not have to worry about that at all during the credits this time. Has there perhaps been some push to disable that feature via firmware updates over the past few years?

I had the UK Arrow disc, and I currently have the Shout! disc. I've never seen the countdown you are referring to, or anything other than the credits.

As far as I know, this only occurs on recent Sony Blu-ray discs.

I didn’t know there were discs that had a countdown that would skip the end credits. I don’t see the point of it. It’s not like skipping the credits is going to play another movie like on streaming services.
