Criterion EO (2022) coming from Criterion

Sideshow/Janus Films will be releasing Jerzy Skolimowski's "Eo" theatrically in the USA. The film won the Jury Prize at this year's Cannes film festival.

Janus is the parent company of Criterion so expect to see an announcement later this year or early next year.

Can't wait to get it. Very sad film but a very beautiful and thoughtful one and the trained donkeys playing the central character really gave an incredible performance.

This thread title is misleading, or at the very least, premature. Janus releases lots of films theatrically. This does not guarantee a home video release from Criterion.

This had me VERY confused. I thought there was a US title that was different for the same film. Did they rip it off or just remake it?

I would be interested in a comparison of the picture quality of the BFI and the Criterion disc. I doubt that anyone on the forum has both releases, though. The screenshot sites do not seem to be interested, apparently.

This is sad, The new Criterion Janus Contemporaries releases does not include bind numbers like the Criterion Collection. Wish they would change their minds...please.

Any info on how this disc ended up? It's $15 at the B&N sale, and it seems like a film worth adding to the library.

DVDBeaver did a review of it with a few screenshots. Looks great to me. Not sure how it compares to the stream, or UK disc though.

I finally worked up the courage to watch this movie. It was not easy; it is a very emotional and at times painful film.

I strongly recommend it to anyone who cares deeply about animals, but really anyone with a heart will get a thrilling ride out of it. Also, did anyone else get Stalker vibes from all the travel/water montages? Bravo to them.

I'd been curious about this film, so I just read the Wikipedia synopsis.

I'm very glad I did.

I'm happy that this disc exists for fans of the film, but I can guarantee, I will never ever watch this film after reading that summary.

I recommend anyone who's the least bit squeamish about violence/cruelty toward animals (even fictional violence/cruelty) read that summary first.

The movie ends
[Show spoiler]exactly how you suspect it will
.

Given most people commit cruelty against animals on a daily basis, often unconsciously, this is exactly the reason they ought to watch this film.

You're entitled to your opinion, but I still feel comfortable having warned people about this movie.

Whenever a movie revolves around an animal, the animal tends to get killed or die, so I always read the summary of any movie about an animal before watching it.
