Chances of Seven Samurai blu ray? - Blu-ray Forum

I didn't see anyone else talking about this, but what do you think the chances are of getting this on blu? It definitely ranks at the top of my most wanted list along with Lawrence of Arabia.

It will definitely make it to blu-ray seeing as it one of the greatest films made. Criterion just released a the digital remastered DVD in 06, so it could be coming soon (hopefully for 2010).

Right now the only one available is the Samurai 7 anime which is based off of Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai. But as for the actual Seven Samurai who knows.

Chances are good... it's a beloved film by a major instition director. The only reason Criterion doesn't already have more Kurosawa out is because of convoluted rights-holder complications. The whole catalogue will be on blu within a couple years.

There is a BD release for Kurosawa coming in August, Kagemusha (The Shadow Warrior) I am looking forward to this but I can't wait for Seven Samurai on BD.

My Japanese reading is rusty but I don't see anything about English subtitles. Not likely in a Japanese disc I guess. Anyway hopefully that means an English release is on the horizon.
