Takashi Miike's AUDITION: Disc company Shout! Factory released the first peek at the cover art for a new two-DVD release of Takashi Miike’s AUDITION, as well as content info. Featuring a new high-definition transfer from the internegative (with a fresh digital stereo soundtrack) of Miike’s notorious chiller, about a widower (Ryo Ishibashi) who holds “auditions” for a new girlfriend and winds up hooking up with a beautiful psychopath (Eihi Shiina), the set will street in October, along with a double-Blu-ray edition.
Both versions will include an impressive array of original special features; the lineup includes: New audio commentary by director Miike and screenwriter Daisuke Tengan New video introduction by Miike Over 90 minutes of new interviews with the cast, including Ishibashi, Shiina, Renji Ishibashi and Ren Osugi Trailers Liner notes by Tom Mes, author of Agitator The Cinema of Takashi Miike Retail price is $24.98 each for both the DVDs and the Blu-rays. ![]() Last edited by Scottie; 03-24-2017 at 09:25 PM. |

Am I the only one who thought that movie sucked? It didn't feel neither scarry nor thrilling. I was told all sorts of stuff about it before watching it, including I hope U have a strong stomach and such... In the end, it was really disappointing. Dunno what all the hype is about.

I blame Bravo TV's 100 Scariest Movie Moments and people "over-selling" it as something it's not. That show sent lots of people running to pick this film up thinking they were going to get a TCM movie from Japan. I really liked the slow, methodical pacing up until the final few minutes, made the "payoff" that much more intense.

Besides, as with most of these b-level horror films, you can just watch the "cool"(gory, violent, torture, etc, etc) parts on youtube and skip all the melodramatic lead-up. ![]() |
