Stars James Marsden (Sonic The Hedgehog), Katie Holmes (Batman Begins) and Nick Stahl (Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines) set the screen ablaze in this breathlessly fast-paced jolt-fest from veteran "X-Files" director David Nutter. Written by Scott Rosenberg (Con-Air) and featuring a hip soundtrack from the hottest bands around, this "clutch-your-armrest thriller" (Teen People) will pull you into the undercurrent of a deranged high school clique - and drag you away screaming!

Achieve, be excellent...and be afraid. For when the esteemed Blue Ribbon club of Cradle Bay High take their slogans too far, things in the small coastal town begin to go wrong. Dead wrong. And when a "dark sinister force" begins turning the school's curricularly challenged into the soulless, academic elite, three "outsiders" join in a desperate race to avoid becoming insiders and losing their individuality forever!

Day One. I have the Shout disc but I’ll happily double dip on this. Any word on if the legendary director’s cut has been found? I know it’s not mentioned there, but maybe there’s been some movement on it behind the scenes. And Shout allegedly tried but then neither Shout nor Nutter said nothing else on the matter.

Genuine question. What is there to double dip on if you have the shout disc? It’s the same disc?

I’m more disappointed that VS didn’t snag this one. Would have been a 4K UHD at worst.

At worst?

Dare I ask what we would get "at best"? The first 8K release perhaps??

My point was that if VS picked it up like they have previous Shout/Scream releases, it would have been given the 4K treatment no matter what at the very least and more than likely got a director's cut at best.

Really like this flick, so just a little disappointed someone like VS didn't get it, instead of the same recycled disc.

I absolutely adore this film, and it's even more dear to my heart for introducing me to Michelle Skalnik (never forgotten: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...&postcount=212). While I'm thrilled to finally be able to own it on Blu-ray (I refuse to ever buy SF), I agree the continued lack of respect for the film is disheartening. No director's cut, no 4K UHD and the same extras that were on the ancient DVD make this a missed opportunity. Not even a new transfer. The one used for my MGM HD recording leaves a lot to be desired.

So, happy to get it, but bittersweet.

Bittersweet is correct. I had it in the back of my mind when some of the SF oop discs were being upgraded to 4K by VS, that this would be one of them.

Good for anyone that doesn't have it on blu, bad for us long time fans that have owned the disc for years now.

I think Blu Ray to Blu Ray re-releases should be a thing of the past. Gets boring after a while.

If a disc is getting re-released, at worst give it a new scan like Kino or ideally a 4K release.

I guess that Flys video is impossible to include again. It remains a DVD exclusive.

75% of us own the disc and/or have purchased better technology (4K). The scan is years old too, so not much of an argument unless you are not a big fan of the flick, don't already own the disc and enjoy older scanned transfers. Missed opportunity for this one to get a really good release. Basically just a recycled disc with a bow on it.

Will always be the same disagreements when it comes to re-releases. Those who have paid their dues and already own the disc and those that missed out on the disc or are new to the game.

Personally, I am bored to death of Blu Ray re-releases. Owned this disc for years, really enjoy the flick and was hoping for 4K.

I am guessing this will now be this flicks last release on disc and instead of getting a 4K release or new scan, it has just been recycled. Can give any re-release a pass when it has a new scan or features etc but this has none of that.

As a fan of the film, sad news indeed.

I for one am glad this is coming out, I missed out on the original release. I'll grab this with Miami Blues and Vampire's Kiss!

Your post that I replied to is literally arguing for these re-releases without a new scan/4K to be a thing of the past. As in, this release shouldn't exist according to you. Don't try to walk it back now. And your statistic about 75% of "us" owning the disc, and having 4K technology sounds almost...made up......The SF BD is in 742 collections here, a relatively paltry amount all things considered. Clearly there are still plenty of people that never got that release (including myself) who are happy to now get it at a decent price. No one is saying it wouldn't be nice to have a new scan and/or 4K release, but that in no way should mean these types of releases should be a "thing of the past".

And you also say the same thing every time there's a release like this. Why do you have the most posts in this thread if you have zero interest in the release?? It's not like your posting anything different with each post. You're essentially thread-crapping, which is against site policy.

Read what I said. You are basically advocating that re-releases shouldn't have better scans or 4K releases. Crazy talk.

Another genius question from yourself. Why would a fan of this film be posting in a thread about it? I am stating my opinion that this re-release should be better, as there are no improvements on show. If you like to accept mediocrity, then that is your prerogative.

Anymore insights or are you done trolling with false accusations? I am well within my rights, as a owner of the original disc and fan of this film, to state my disappointment that this re-release isn't anything new.

Oh and show some respect to those 742 members that already own the disc.

Without people like myself and those 742 members plunking down the cash years ago to buy the first release, you probably wouldn't be getting a re-release of it now.

You're welcome.

This is one I'll double dip on because I LOVE the movie. Easily my most re-played Scream Factory disc. The slipcover, reversible art, and poster have me sold. I wish it had more to offer in terms of being different from the previous release, but I'll take it.

There is a huge leap between the two quoted sentences above. Saying something should exist in a better state isn't the same as saying something shouldn't exist at all. He's suggesting that a disc be re-released in an improved state instead of a straight re-release of an existing disc. In his idealized scenario, the disc exists and you still can buy it - it's just better than what came before.

He literally said:

Quote:

I'm really not getting why anyone is raising a torch at the idea that someone might be disappointed in a straight re-issue of something that could stand to be improved.

Did you not read his post after that? He literally said he thinks these kinds of releases should be a thing of the past. How do you interpret that other than him believing releases like this shouldn't be made anymore. Unless your definition of "thing of the past' differs from mine?. There is literally nothing else to glean from from that, it's completely straightforward, so I'm not sure why there would be any confusion here. I just have to assume you haven't actually read it.

Not much more I can add that Brandon hasn’t already.

I was simply stating that this disc could easily be improved upon, hasn’t been but should be. Why does that rub up you up the wrong way? That is a disappointment and hopefully doesn’t carry on being a trend. Improved discs in the future instead of just recycled discs in cardboard please, labels.

Hope those that don’t have the disc enjoy it.
