Default Borders put all there Blu-ray in Glass case locked up

Latest fine news :- BORDERS IN VEGAS have there BluRay Movies locked up behind glass !!!! the entire lot .

Now this is a fine way to promote BluRay isnt it: joke of it is they must realize that if anybody was stealing, there now going to steal the normal DVD,s arnt they and their Blu Ray discs are going to sell less and less

More incredibly bad merchandising and Borders you would think would know better
But like I have said, if they decided to cut the price for all BluRays to $20 dollars, you would see an dramatic increase in BluRay sales

But no Borders on Lasvegas BLVD have locked them all up in a Glass case..

All I got from this is "Wha Wha I can't steal from Borders anymore QQ"

This has nothing to do in the releases or probably any section here.

I personally demand to pick up every Blu-Ray in the store to see how the weight of the packaging of each movie balances in my hands before deciding which title to purchase. This is much harder to do with these glass setups, due to the fact that the employees get fed up with having to unlock various cases, and generally frown upon how I rub the movies against myself.

I'm with you brother. This glass borderline infringes on our American rights.

A Borders in Boston did the same thing. Can't say which exactly, but it was a few blocks away from the convention center.

Haven't been there in awhile but my local stores were dumping CDs and DVDs. Maybe they kept some BDs but at those prices I guess they figure they are valuable and must be locked up!

The Borders in my location have a large selection of blu-rays, easily the biggest selection of any of the big box retailers, and a more diverse selection as well. Many are indeed in a big glass case. The reason for this in part is because the individual plastic cases that Borders houses the single blu-rays in are expensive, and Borders has been cost cutting to stay a float during the recession. So they use the individual security cases they have on hand, but whatever blu-rays they get over that go in the big glass case.

The pricing of their blu-rays are generally SRP....so I hardly ever buy from them as I assume most of you don't either. But, they do tend to have quite a few 30% - 40% off coupons, so sometimes I go in there and pick up something when there is a coupon available and I don't feel like waiting a few days for Amazon.

I'd be annoyed if i was in a hurry to buy something. Like at Best Buy you can just grab it and go straight to the counter. If they are all behind a locked glass it might take a bit to find the worker with the key to open it.

Exactly! Just like Wal-mart for example. I hate buying from them sometimes because not everyone knows how to work that tool to remove the security casing, and one time I waited for almost 15 mins till they found someone!

I noticed the same at the last 2 Borders I visited. It may not seem like a big deal but I hated it because you can not see the prices on the titles nor read the rear cover. I don't want to have to always get a sales associate just to do a price check and confirm that the Borders price is beyond reason.
