A rough estimate at the moment is that 151,650 people die every day. The "end of the world" is nothing more then a last party that everyone happens to show up to...

Why the fascination with end of the world stories, songs, and movies???

Normal human fear. We are around for a certain amount of time but we do take comfort in the fact that the world will go on, our families will be there, we will somehow be remembered. The idea that it could just all end, with no one left around is probably extremely scary for people

Same here. I can't imagine what I would do if that happened and to be honest there is nothing ANYONE can do.

I don't want to get anyone puffed up or anything, but consider fast food and cigarettes- most would agree that stuff shortens lifespans... and we go out and buy it!

"suckers" can be aimed at just about anyone from a certain perspective. And I would say every last one of us is headed to our own "end of the world." Some just live longer then others.

You're right, our individual world will end some day, at different times.

As for what I wrote previously, just type in words on Google such as "Planet X" and "Nibiru" and you'll see what I mean. Either there's a lot of crazy people out there, or they're smart people financially exploiting the fears of others.

Or, some of the stuff, "could" be true.

The absence of evidence isn't evidence.

Grevlin, you are right on the mark. The end does come eventually to all individually. But most are afraid of it coming to all at once. That's the stuff that scares people.

sure there is. Modern Science would alert us of any disaster at that scale. Science is a wonderful thing. Religion is what was developed for your fears.

What a complete and total waste of money. They should just leave the teaser trailers out there because prior to seeing this one I actually planned on checking the movie out. Now, I'll pass.
Same here. I am NOT impressed. The CGI does look amazing, but since I'm not a kid any more, that won't be enough to sell me the movie. The plot looks horrible. I will admit that I loved the teaser trailer. I had high hopes based off of that alone. It was really creepy. Now, I'm thoroughly disappointed.

Alert us? Even if everyone is warned against something like this it still wouldn't be enough. I mean, where would people hide or be evacuated to?

And I'm sure the people in this movie were warned too but people still died. Not everyone is going to survive.

I myself am looking forward to the Big Finale on 12/21/2012. I look forward to calling my dear Bible Thumping A**hat of a Mother and telling her triumphantly, "See, it really was just a really poorly written book." I am looking forward to Chaos, Anarchy and the non-stop CNN Coverage as Cities, States and Continents are LAID TO WASTE via Solar Fire, Tsunami, Meteor Showers, Plague, Locusts, Zombies, Wild Animals, Annoyed Republicans, A New Celine Dion Album, Insert-Here-Whatever-It-Is-That-Ultimately-Kills-Us-All. I am so down for it. Just bring it. Only a truly delusional moron can honestly believe that humanity can survive much longer at this rate to begin with. Being there at the end, that's just another joy of life without a decent explanation. At least I am going to die happy. Don't know about you.

P.S. The movie looks sick. I am so there. And it is a Day One BD Buy. (Unless they pull a "Knowing" and then forget it.)

as long as my nightmares finally come true and we get honest-to-Xenu zombies roaming the streets, I'll be fine with everything else.

Now we're talking. Like I said before:

1. Generator for the stereo
2. Sufficient alcohol supply
3. A few guns to protect the party

This planet is a closed-loop system with an energy wasting life form reproducing at an increasing rate.

This may seem like a gloomy outlook, but I'm cheery! -- I just want to be around to see the show. (But watch end-of-the-world flics for now)

Look, I know the film looks awesome, and I would definitely love to see it on day 1, but making a movie about the supposed 'end of the world' is ridiculous.

What I'm saying is that it's just stupid to make a movie on what's going to happen in December 12, 2012. No one really knows what's going to happen either, because no one else have seen it. I know about superstitions, but the world isn't going to end in just a snap. In fact, no one even knows when and how the world is going to end. War? Natural disasters? An astronomical phenomenon? No one knows, so we'll just have to wait and see.

In my opinion, the world isn't really going to end on that particular date, nor December 21, 2012. The Earth and the Solar System are about halfway about its lifetime, and we have still so much to achieve. Thank God we are all alive, and I'm not saying that you can't believe in some stupid prophecy, it's just pointless to visualize the end of the world through a movie. What we would know in the future rests in time.

Actually it can. Science said so.

Movies often follow pop culture, and this date is becoming that.
