Looks like it will be along the same lines as Emmerich's "The Day After Tomorrow". And since "2012" has an A-list cast (John Cusack, Amanda Peet, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Danny Glover, Thandie Newton) in the film, the movie ought to be really good. Can't wait for this one!

Just because the film may have a talented roster of actors aboard doesn't make it an automatically-good movie. I personally don't believe Mr. Emmerich has made a single good movie yet in his career and considering the run-of-the-mill premise of "2012" I assume it's going to be more of the same: all flashy (and not always-realistic) destruction, two or one-dimensional characters spouting off cheesy dialogue and making idiotic decisions in order to keep the plot barreling towards its inevitably sentimental or savagely-predictable conclusion.

zOMG, we will be so fux0red on 12-21-12!!!

Darned Mayans. At least go for something clean, like 12-12-12. At least the Chinese picked 8-8-8 to start the Olympics.

I guess they figured we could use an extra 9 days to live it up before the end.

Can't wait for this movie. 10,000 BC was a letdown, but I think Emmerich has the potential to redeem himself here. I am not sure if I believe in the prophecy of 2012, but it makes for an interesting story, and I'd rather have Emmerich do it than someone else. Let's face it, the guy can make disaster movies, and I love them. I don't care what anyone says of The Day After Tomorrow, it entertained me. Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow are in my Blu-ray collection (as is 10,000 BC) and I will get this one as well.

Agree to disagree, then.

I know, I think it looks awesome too! I hope I don't see any more trailers to the movie, I don't want too much to be revealed!

Emmerich is the king at making great teaser trailers for bad movies. I remember when that awesome teaser for Godzilla was released an entire year before the movie came out. I was excited that entire year until I finally saw the movie on opening night. It sucked big time.

This teaser looks really good, but I don't want to be suckered into another one of his epic crapfests. The only movies of his that I really enjoyed were Stargate and Independence Day. I'll wait for the reviews to come in before I get excited this time.

At least I'm not alone on this board in thinking his films are not exactly stellar to put it extra-mildly.

Always interesed in Sci-Fi and doomsday movies (when they are well done).
This one has something specific, in that there are people out there who actually believe something big will happen on December 21, 2012.
This is of course due to the end of the Mayan calendar on that date.

It will be like 1999, or 2000, Y2k, Nostradamus predictions and so on, in other words: Nothing will happen.
Just try to enjoy the movie for what it is, a work of fiction.

Exactly what I was thinking. People made a big fuss about the whole Y2K thing, and not one damn thing happened.

I wish I sold all my stocks at Y2K. It was really the end of prosperity for many.
