Scream Factory will be releasing a Collector's Edition of Evil Dead (2013) on 4K UHD on September 27th! It will include both theatrical, and unrated versions of the film.

Had a heart attack before I saw the year and realised it was the remake.

I do like the remake, though, so I might pick this up at a later day. I imagine Shout will include both cuts, which would be cool as I've only seen the theatrical version.

It's a good'un! I remember being pessimistic about it initially because I'm such a slut for the 1981 film, but it's a fun, gory ride, clearly made by somebody who loves and respects the original.

Since Sony will not let licensing boutiques make or alter masters, hopefully a new 4K master with Dolby Vision or HDR10 is made for this by them. The 4K version on Vudu right now does not have HDR or DV.

Yessss!

The unrated cut is only a few minutes longer of interspersed extra footage but it does make it flow better. Not a huge departure but the editing and story just ‘feel’ better. Now let’s just hope Scream doesn’t F up the encode. For a second there I thought they’d gotten their crap together with the compression but then The Craft 4K disc came out and that has its share of issues.
