Is the show good? I tend to stay away from non HBO or Showtime TV series.

Damages is one of the best shows on television. I think the second season fell a little short of the first but still great.

I don't know for sure if the UK release is region free. The German is according to http://www.blurayregioncodes.com/index.php?region=b.

It's often at a good price in the US too.
