United Kingdom Touching The Void

Has anyone bought the new BD of 'Touching The Void'? If so, could you comment on the AV quality and confirm that it is 1080p (i.e. not 1080i) and runs at the correct speed?

I have this one. Unfortunately the picture quality is not that great. I'd recommend to wait until it's released in the U.S. and hopefully with better quality. The studio that released it in the UK has a reputation for poor/cheap video quality.

Thanks Charles - I think I'll follow your advice.

I just bought this and saw it in the cinema also. I think it looks pretty good, I doubt it will get better I think its limited by the source. But I think looks good on my DLP projector on LCD it might not look as nice as I find LCD does not do a good job of whites

I did in fact buy this a while ago for a pretty low price. I thought it looked good, and certainly better than the Region 1 DVD that I had previously.

Yes, the Blu-ray looks good, with some nice details on wide shot. Black level is a bit dissapoint though. It could ranges from 3,5 to 4 according to the standards on Blu-ray.com
Edit : forgot to tell you that there are several scenes with heavy grain... looks like it was shot on a poor portable digital camera (GoPro-like)

I have had the BD for a month and in 3 attempts have covered about 20 minutes into the film. Was unable to continue beyond that so far but someday I will. I suffer from severe fear of heights and was anxious and sweating throughout. Looks like a great film.

But from the initial part I have seen, the PQ of the standard BD appeared quite good on my 4K TV.

I'd stay away from the doc Free Solo...it will probably give you a heart attack.

In a perverse way, I am tempted. After all Honnold is alive and well.

The odd thing about my fear of heights is that it is worst when a person or people are on top of a structure like a skyscraper or climbing a mountain with the risk of falling. But I have far less problem with freefalling footage as from a parachute; I had no problems watching Alan Eustace's stratospheric jump in "14 Minutes From Earth" on Netflix although it was a bit too low budget.

In Touching the Void, I got anxious with close-up shots of the climbers' boots against the rockface.

Can anyone say if the Blu-ray has been remastered and have the same special features or it it just a repressing of the old one?
