Default Video Business Mag article: Betting on Blu-ray

Page 6 of the september 3rd edition of Video Business has a great article witch quotes many of the home installers.
Title of Aticle: Betting on Blu-ray - High-end home theater installers see a preference

"We are happy to install either one", says Jon Robbins, chief operating officer of HiFI House, a consumer electronics dealer focused on high-end installation in Philadelphia. "As a matter of fact, we're doing quite well with the LG BH100 combo unit, I really don't have a preference," Robins says, "but it seems that in the last 60 to 90 days, the consumer awareness of Blu-ray has gone leaps and bounds over HD."

Richard Glikes, executive director of Home Theater Specialist of America, a 61 member buying group representiong a half a billion dollars a year in sales says this: "Personally, I think the die has been cast, I surveyed our membership, and 93.95% of the high-definition players they've sold are Blu-ray, six percent are HD DVD, and a lot of those are the LG combo unit. I do not think it would be to long before Blu-ray is pronounced the winner."

David Wexler, co-owner of The Little Guys, a high-end retailer and installation company in Chicago says: " HD camp is all about how cheap and how fast. Blu-ray is about the quality and performance of the machine."

Blu-ray is displayed in the Magnolia (high-end) part of Best Buy, where as hd-dvd is displayed in the normal home theater section. Although we (I work there) also have the Sony, Samsung and LG (dual) Blu-Ray players fully displayed.

Great news, I work at a higher end retail, and the number one question is: Whats blu ray or wheres blu ray? Somehow sony is coining that term, its catchy, and its making people interested. Most of our customers are older and educated, and when they purchase a 3000.00 set, 499.99 for a s300 is the perfect add on. They know the sony name, and I hate to say it, toshiba is generic to most people. Im loving the news rolling in right now!

I love the last quote, sums up the difference between Blu-ray and HDDUD very nicely.

That definitely sums it up.

HD DVD seems to want to flood the market with 1080i only players and the vast majority of their titles with no lossless audio.

It seem that Blu-ray has the momentum and is outselling HD DVD at the retail level also. See this link
