Wait and See Time for high def DVD

Posted by: Jennifer Netherby

"New Line, btw hasn't yet announced any titles for high def release, but Lasorsa said some will be coming next year on both formats..."

"I haven't heard a number yet for Blu-ray, but I have heard Blu-ray disc sales were twice as high on Blu-ray in the days following the PS3's launch and backers seem pleased so far..."

"The Blu-ray Disc Association has set up a sponsored blog at ZDNet.com to keep insiders up on the latest with the format, such as the recent U.S. media tour the Blu-ray Disc Association undertook. The blog is being done by Andy Parsons of Pioneer and Marty Gordon of Philips."

"...Some questions reflect rumors or speculative information that’s been circulated on a number of discussion forums around the Internet, much of which has caused some confusion. We don’t like confusion about Blu-ray, so when the opportunity came up to start this blog, Marty and I jumped at the opportunity to provide an informal BD-centric site where we can discuss subjects we think are interesting and important, and to provide a place where anyone who’s interested can direct questions to a couple of “official” BDA guys...."

Excellent news. I have bookmarked that blog, though it seems like a promotional blog at the moment, with little information. Hopefully we'll get some good leaks from it soon.

FUD Breaker? There is no such thing. They are out in full force over this thing at AVS. Silly people. OK, Universal might be the ultimate FUD breaker.

The AVS thread is hilarious about this. If they had said HD DVD instead it'd be considered the most official news you could find. Why these people don't just stay out of the BD forums and enjoy their own stuff is beyond me. It's so tiring reading their crap over and over, blotting out any actual news.

I can't believe how many posts I've reported lately. It's getting ridiculous again. Or as Mark Rubin said, there was a full moon.

I expect many, many people have left AVS in disgust. Hopefully they will find this site over time, and people can have a conversation about Blu-ray without having every thread hijacked. I know my blood pressure has gone down since joining you all.

Watching great BD movies
Discussing BD in peace

P.S. Forum stats: 2102 members and 44 online at the time of this writing. Pretty darn good.

That's their whole point. The louder they cry, the more scared I think they are.

This is really cool. That's real support right there. Outside of releasing more "killer" titles, this kind of publicity is a step in the right direction.
