I have a LG BD390 connected to my Sony STRDE-935 via the multi ch anologues, however I do not get sound out of the center channel.
-Sound out of the center is OK when using optical -Speakers are from a Sony HTiB -BD audio setting is set to HDMI -PCM Multi Ch 5.1 Any advice would be helpful... thanks. |

First off, I'm really surprised that your LG BD390 offers Wireless N networking, 1GB internal storage for BD-Live, and Dolby TrueHD decoding, but not DTS-HD Master Audio decoding (DTS core only).
That said, you will only derive the benefits of Dolby TrueHD lossless over your multichannel analog connection. DTS-HD Master Audio will only send the lossy DTS core audio. If you knew that already, then I apologize for saying it over again. ![]() As for your center channel dilemma, there are two things you can do right away. First, perhaps the RCA wire feeding your center channel speaker is faulty. Swap it with a known-good wire and see if you get results. Second, to see if your receiver is at fault, try moving one of the main left or right analog RCA wires from your BD player into your center channel receiver input and see if you get any audio out of the center channel speaker. It's a start! Good luck! |

Are you 100% sure the DTS HD-MA is not decoded onboard, and sent via anologue? |

![]() According to the specifications for your LG player on the LG website, it only offers DTS Advanced Digital Out (not HD Master Audio). That is usually a clear indication that it is not provisioned for internal lossless DTS decoding. In such a case, the alternate lossy track is decoded and sent. But, I stand corrected in this case. I have done some more research and organizations such as Cnet, ZDnet and Home Theater Review all confirm internal decoding of DTS-HD Master Audio on the LG BD390. It makes more sense to believe them, and in light of the players current feature set which I mentioned at my initial response, it makes even more sense. My apologies if I set your mind to unrest. ![]() |

This is from the manual. I'm fairly confident the player does send DTS Master via the anologue outs... plus the On-Screen display does say DTS HD-MA. Notice how the "Primary-Out" also indicates DTS-HD... and not MA.
What do you think...? Thanks. ![]() |

Incidentally, I used to use (and still have) a Sony STR-DE845. It's a solid receiver and never gave me trouble in any way in all the years I had it hooked up. It was just older (2001). You can actually see it in a couple pics in my home theater gallery. |

I am hooking up the BD390 to my STR-DE545 via 5.1 multichannel. This may be a dumb question, but when going through the audio setup, do I select 'primary pass-thru' for the HDMI and SPDIF settings?

Pass through will try to send the un-decoded audio through the HDMI connection. |
