Just look on Amazon (or your favorite store) for “Premium Certified” HDMI cables.
Do not overspend. 1 to 3 meters should be 10 to 20 euros (that’s what they would be in US dollars). Good luck.

OLED from Panasonic, Sony or LG. Pretty much can't go wrong there.

If you go for the 820 then as others have mentioned a new remote from the ub9000 is a good idea. I hit that dang red Netflix button way to many times when watching movies in a dark room.

I looked up the Panasonic 820 on Wal-Mart's website, and they wanted $500 for it...which is far too rich for my blood. Does anyone know of a quality player, below the $200-$250 range? Thanks in advance, for any helpful suggestions.

Panasonic 420 is your best value. Can be found for around $200 on sale (black friday, holidays, etc).

I'm thinking of getting the panasonic UB150 as a no frills second player. Any critiques? Probably going to wait for black friday.

Totally different guts from the 420 and 820. Not in the same league.

I apologize for being dense, I just want to make sure I'm looking at the right player.

You're referring to the Panasonic DP-UB820-K?

It has Dolby Vision which I want because I have a Sony OLED with Dolby Vision. But the voice control stuff isn't something I'm terribly interested in but I'm sure my wife would love it.

Just want to make sure I'm looking at the right one because right now it's about double what I paid for the "highly rated" POS Sony 700 player.

Regarding the replacement remote:

Are you referring to the HCDZ remote that's listed for the Panasonic 900 models? Will that work for an 820 player? Or is there another brand/model of remote you would recommend?

Sorry for the noob questions, I'm more of a 'plug-in-and-play' when it comes to my level of expertise.

But no Dolby Vision. If your TV supports DV, you really want a DV player IMHO.

You have the right player. I can never remember the exact letters that go with the number. Mine is actually the DP-UB824, and probably a few more letters after that. They're all the same players and the different numbers are just regional differences and sometimes retailer specific.

I'm not sure what HCDZ is, but the remote some of us have been buying is the one that comes with the 900 or 9000 Panasonic player. I believe this is the exact one I have. Very sturdy and very good button clicks. The one that comes with is decent enough, but this one just blows it out of the water.

I don't know anything about voice control.

The HCDZ I was referring to was a brand of replacement remote I found on Amazon which looks very similar to what you linked to:

But actually this one looks closer as it actually has the print on the bottom of the remote (if that matters at all):

I'm pretty sure mine is exactly like the one I linked to. Can't find the eBay page because I bought it too long ago.

If it's not an original remote, the one I linked to, it's indistinguishable from an original. Mine was also ~$30 and not ~$10.

I wouldn't buy the Panasonic 4K blu Ray Player 820 It's OK but frankly It's not that great I would go with the Sony 4K X800M2 instead because the case Is metal not plastic and to me is much more Compatible with both TV's and projectors. I'm actually about selling my Panasonic 4K 820 unit because It's very compatible friendly with my 4k projector at all.

I have a Sony OLED TV and soundbar (don't have a projector). Are you saying a Panasonic player will have compatibility issues with those Sony devices?

Just quickly glancing over the last couple of pages of the 800 thread there seems to be some (but not all) who have problems with discs freezing in the 800. That's the problem I'm having now with the 700 and am trying to rectify.

A metal case is nifty, but if that's the only thing the 800 has going for it and there's the potential for the same freezing problems, I'm not so sure I'm keen to trust Sony with my money again. Sorry, but I'm already feeling a bit burned by Sony.

The Panny craps all over that Sony. Yes, I had it and aside from being quicker, it pretty much sucks dick.

It works with everyone else's projektor...but not his. 800Mk2 is not a betterer player than the Panny. Had the Sony for a week, sold it on immediately.

Yes that's what I'm saying the Panasonic 4K 820 will have compatibility issues with the Sony tv probably not with the soundbar because the Panasonic 4K 820 is not a Sony 4K X800M2 Blu ray player. The Everyone says how great the Panasonic 820 is but it's the most terrible 4K b!u ray player that Panasonic ever developed. I will be selling it ASAP and going with the Sony X800M2 instead. Stay away from the Panasonic 820.

I'm assuming that if there were compatibility issues between my Sony OLED TV and a Panasonic player that those would become evident fairly quickly, yes?

Seems odd though, since if the reality is that one brand of player isn't compatible with another brand of TV it kind of makes the question "what's the best 4K player" kind of moot. You'd be forced to go with whatever brand your TV is. That doesn't seem right.

What I'm saying is that the Panasonic 820 isn't as good like people cc laim it is. I continue to have problems with it and Panasonic refuses to help me with them mostly with playback issues. However the best 4k Blu player to get is if you can afford it is just a multi region free b!u-player from like 220-electronics that way you won't have any issues with playing them.
