December 23rd 2006 On the way home from an early Christmas visit stopped at Frys in San Jose. They had PS3 in stock. You had to by a bundle of 5 games and extra controller for $949. I have never regretted the purchase. I have played all the games and have bought more. I have been watching BD movies as well. The PS3 is a incredible machine.

I spent $830 on my PS3 plus warranty plus fall of man, then I spent 600 on an HDTV let me tell you, I went a pay period hungry during lunch time, but it was worth it!

BTW what makes you think HD-DVD is out selling Blu-ray? http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...ing_HD_DVD/936

Maybe Blu-ray owners are just more confident on their chosen format?

I was thinking about the subject of this post concerning whether Blu-ray owners have more money or not.

I think it's more of an issue with Blu-ray owners demanding a product of a higher quality and willing to pay the slight premium involved. We could all be wearing no name clothes or driving crappy cars but most of us like to have items of a higher quality in our lives.

So, to answer the original question, no, I don't think it's about having more money. I think it's about demanding a higher quality experience and being willing to pay for it.

We've got more money, we're more confident and there's just a ton more to see on Blu.

This should be the next advertisement for HD-DVD:

Cool Ha ha..........no

I don't have a lot (relatively) of money, BUT I make sure that I spend my money on quality products that have proven value. That said it would seem obvious why I am a Blu-Ray fan.

Well, when I first bought my PS3 I also purchased 4 games and 3 extra controllers and I beleive my total was around $1,000-$1,100.

About a month or so later is when I commited to Blu-Ray, so we went out and bought the PS3 Blutooth Remote and 5 or 6 Blu-Ray titles. So I believe that was around $200.

Maybe HD-DVD people just don't have too many movies to choose from. Or many HD-DVD owners probably own bluray players as well, perhaps a PS3, and bought an HD-DVD to make up for the movies that their Bluray players lack.

But who cares. I bought Marvel Ultimate Alliance and COD3 with the PS3. I was going to get Superman just to try out the movie experience but the store ran out. So Talladega Nights was good enough.

I've been buying shares of stock in Micrsoft since I was a sophomore in High School and used some of the money to buy two of my PS3's. ironically.

I bought a Sony HDMi 1.3 wire and RFoM with my PS3. 2 days later I bought a blue tooth headset and NHL 2k8.

Doesn't mean all blu-ray adopters have money. Many people sacrifice and save to buy blu-ray. There is a large segment of consumers who just buy the cheapest thing that does what they want. They tend to be the truly poor. Truly poor people tend to be uneducated. Uneducated people tend to get angry and complain and tell people off all the time. Holy crap, no wonder HD-DVD people are so pissed.

New laptop(Jan 1st, 2007).
*MANY* different makes and models to choose from.
Sony - VGN-AR190G - on sale for $2699.97.
At time of manufacture(May 2006) this optical drive was in essense $1000.00.

You damn right I would do it again!

Not that I have wads of disposable cash, I saved since Aug 2004 for me a new whoop ass laptop.
At the time of purchase, this was the biggest, baddest laptop available to me. Just so happens that it has a Blu-ray burner from the factory(laptop was actually designed around the BD drive).

Bummer, huh?
I suppose you could say that I like this machine.
Rips/edits/burns/authors Blu-ray Discs.
Playback *IS* 1080p! Screen has pixels to spare!
HDMI for those times when people need to see what they are missing. LOL

I don't think that it's BD people have more money...
I think that it's the fact we wanted "Beyond High Definition".
Mediocre is not what we want when we view HD!

More money? Hmmm...not so sure. More DISPOSABLE income...maybe. I do think, based on what I have seen on other forums, the blu-ray community tend to have more advanced and higher end audiophile/videophile type of equipment.

When you see HD-DVD fanboys touting how they are happy with their Durabrand home theatre in a box's that play Dolby Digital Plus , then you would have to think the guys and gals who support Blu are a little more in tune with what and what not to buy.

Default I got a discount

I don't know if Blu-ray owners have more money. I got a Sony S300 (which I admit is crappy, lol), when it was on sale for $450, and then I used my employee discount to get an extra 10% off.

When I got it I just spent like $22 on a Blu-ray movie, and I got the 3 year warranty for about $80. The good thing is that if HD-DVD wins the battle, I'll at least have the store warranty to get my manager to replace it for an HD-DVD or combo player, lol.

Then I also have a laptop with a Blu-ray drive, but that's thanks to my parents that thought I needed a better, fully loaded, laptop for school. They're nice parents
