Default Do Blu-ray owners have more money?

I have no facts on this but it seems as though blu-ray owners have more money to spend than hddvd owners. Blu-ray movies are outselling hd-dvd by almost 2:1, despite the higher sales rate of the sub $300 Toshiba players.

So when you bought your first Blu-Ray player or PS3 how much did you spend?

I bought Ridge Racer, 2 Blu-Ray movies, PS3 remote, and an hdmi cable. Just about over $100 altogether.

This is a loaded question for me because I had an employee discount. I bought the S300 and 4 movies for $50 more than the retail on the player

technically I didn't spend over $200 extra. I traded in most of my ps2 games and half of my dvd's and got a 60gig PS3 and 3 games on launch day for free

Me too, although the only real savings I had was the hdmi cable ($7). Everything else was like $5-8 off.

I bought my Philips BDP9000 off of Ebay for $200 brand new when it was still at least $600/$700 dollars retail, and so far bought about a dozen movies for about $190. What can I say, I'm a bargain hunter.

Well sh*t it's not about more money. It's about not wasting it.

Hmm, lets see, can I get a cheap ass player, preferably made by RCA or someone even more obscure. I'd like some combo disks that have a 10% or so failure rate. I'd like to have to install firmware updates to have a prayer of new stuff working. Yeahhh, where do I sign up for that. I'll pay an extra 50 bucks if I have to boil disks on occasion to get them to work. That is ***customer friendly***.

not necessarily. i am a law school student. and i have saved up enough money to spend on whatever i need. plus god bless my parent, they have always giving me anything i wanted, and provided more than i asked for. me personally i started saving up for ps3 release, exactly about 2 yrs before. by the release date i had enough to purchase 10 PS3. and sold them all, 2 of them were sold at the AMSTERDAM SCHIPOLES airport. come to think about it, it was a funny experiance. i was at the security check in, and i was carrying two large bags, and the security guy asked me whats in the bag. and i said a PS3. PS3 when i said it everyone stopped what they were doing and started bidding on the systems. that was around november. back on topic, i sold the ps3s and was able to buy 3 1080p sony lcd screens for each room in my house. and plus couple movies and games. and paid bills with it. life is good.

i have to take a wild guess. the majority of bluray.com members are younglings. "THE FUTURE" might i add. most of us don't have the privilage to spend money the way we want to be. most of us saved up money for the cause. ITS TRUE. THIS GEN. IS FUTURE.

What pushed me was PS3 going to $549 CAN and the free 5 movie offer..... Plus the fact they were going to sell the 60 gb till it was gone then the 80 gb was going back up to $659 CAN. Pretty easy to make my decision then......

I paid for my ps3 bought in indonesia, japanese version (asian version is cheaper than japanese) IDR 9500000 = GBP 540 = USD 1080. guess it's about $480 extra.

I bought a Toshiba HD-A1 for $200 including 5 free discs and purchased a Samsung BD-P1000 for $340 at about the same time. Both prices were plus shipping.
