Arrow Apparently Half-Blood Prince is Oscar Nomination Material?

I've read excellent things about it from people that have seen it. It's too bad it won't be out on IMAX until two weeks after release.

Quote:
So says Paul Dergarabedian of Hollywood.com. I'm not supposed to tell you what I think of the new Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince just yet, but I can tell you I completely agree with what Paul said in his article. If you read my Twitter, then you probably already know what I thought of it. But let me use some of his quotes to explain. "The Potter-loving beast in me has been unleashed having witnessed a film that was not only exquisite in its production values, but was also charming, funny, scary, enchanting, moving (stop me, the adjectives could go on and on) and dare I say, sexy." Did I tell you that I wholly agree with him?
Quote:
"Brilliantly directed by David Yates (he directed 2007's Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is a tour-de-force that combines style and substance, special effects and heart and most importantly great performances from all of the actors young and not-so-young."
Paul speculates that with 10 Best Picture nomination slots, Harry Potter might have a chance. I absolutely loved Half-Blood Prince, potentially as my new favorite HP movie, but it's too early to tell (it needs time to soak in). And in case you think Paul is just another Potter fanboy, he actually says that before this one, they "just were not my cup of tea." I really do feel the exact same way as he does. "The cinematography, music, set design and costumes are all amazing, and the film has a truly rich look to it reminiscent of the best of the old-school Hollywood epics." So there you have it. On July 15th, you know exactly where you should be!

This is probably the most anticipated movie by my family. I already told my wife that I will be watching the movie on the day of release on my own. Then we will go as a family to see it.

This was my favorite of the Harry Potter books. I haven't really enjoyed the movies that much. So much is left out of the movies from the books.

Schedule multiple groups on the same night... cuts down on costs.

As for it being Oscar worthy, I can see that finally happening. LOTR got shafted until the end of its trilogy. Likewise, Harry Potter has been deserving of nominations (not wins) throughout the last 3 films. It's about time they get some recognition.

This wasn't my favorite book - but the movie seems to really have taken the ideas and really ran away with the imagery. In fact, I'd say the movie looks grander then the imagery from the book.

The movie looks epic (I hope the ending isn't as jacked up as it was reported to be when spoilers came out - that could really ruin the movie).

Agreed. I hope by postponing the movie they were able to fix some of the problems that were reported

Awesome. I've been watching all the Potter films, so I'm pretty hyped up for the next movie.

This film should be good, but I've lost intrest as two years is a long time and harry potter seems so childish now, I probably like it though, if its good of course.

I really like OOTP, but the previous movies were nothing special; however, HBP looks amazing and I can't wait to see it.

It really looks like they got the mood and the atmosphere right for this one and I really hope the ending battle scene is spectacular.

It does not matter to me whether it is Oscar material or not. I'll watch it anyways.

I didn't like this book too much but I adore Helena Bonham Carter and Emma Watson so I too will be seeing this in theatres.
