Default Just got a Dynex DX-L32-10A

Anyone got one of these? It's a 32" 720P LCD, my wife and I just picked one up earlier today at BB for $299. I know, I know, it's a Dynex and there are a lot of mixed feelings about them, but we've been wanting a flat panel to put in our bedroom (replacing an old school big boy 32") for quite some time. For $299 I'm extremely pleased with it so far. They had it on display at BB running with a lot of the higher end 32"s, and I was impressed with how comparable it was in PQ. But, of course there's always a but, the one drawback I've found now that its home is that the sound is downright awful. Quite literally the worst I've heard from any TV I've owned. But for the price point thats acceptable, especially since the PQ is so damn good.

Anyway, does anyone have one that can give me some good custom settings to dial in the PQ even more? I'm no good with that kind of stuff but I'm open to recommendations.

Now I'm in the process of trying to decide how to mount it. We moved the old TV out and sat the Dynex on the stand for now, but I want to get rid of the bulky stand as well and have a sleeker look, plus free up some space, so I'm also open to suggestions on that as well; just remember its a bedroom setup, so looking at bargain prices. My wife suggested - and I do like this idea - using a tilt wall mount for it, then hanging a floating shelf elsewhere to sit the dvd player on. I like that idea better than buying some kind of combo wall mount.

Thoughts? Opinions?

Don't trip friend!
YOUR opinion is the only one that matters.

"get a Sammy" or "get a Sony" or "get a Panny"...

"Should have got a 50"..."
Meh!
Do *YOU* like it?

As for the sound, see if there are any controls to change the sound properties(treble/bass)

Enjoy the new set!

I have a Dynex 32", but its last years model so I don't know how accurate these settings would be for you. Check em out anyway. Link.

But, I would definitely buy a calibration disc and adjust to your own viewing environment.

There is a new Insignia series coming out tomorrow, and it is pretty nice. It is made by LG, and has 120Hz. You can get the 42" 1080p 120Hz model for $899! Great for an entry level set.

I got one of them for my son's bedroom. Pretty good for the price.

I purchased one in early May, unfortunately at a higher price. There was no reviews out for this model other than what was on BestBuy so I didn't know much about it. I even had to special order it since many stores didn't even carry it. But when I saw the display model in the store, I was so suprised how much superior the PQ was to other TV's at its level. The sound was sufficient for me.

I'm happy with the purchase. This was my first entry into the world of HDTV and wanted something affordable before I splurge on a big set for the living room.

I just bought 2 of them at best buy last week along with my new Sammy. The picture is great. The sound does suck though. One I bought for my parents and for some reason when I hooked it up to their cabel box the volume has to be so high to hear. I think I am going to get a soundbar for the one in my bedroom. I paid $379 each and then got $20 off each one as a package. Were they advertised for that price? What state are you in?

I have that same TV too, and I agree with your "review". PQ is pretty good, AQ is less than desirable, but still well worth $300. I like the idea of the floating shelf to go with it. The TV is super light, so wall mounting is a piece of cake. Good luck!

I'm not sure if they were advertised for that price or not, we actually just stopped by Best Buy last friday (July 3) to browse around and there it was. I'm in Kentucky.

Thanks for the opinions guys. Crackinhedz I'll give that a shot here in a bit, thanks.

I bought one of these sets the last time they went on sale and boy is it a nice display to use as a bedroom set. The picture is actually very good and what a nice surprise to pick up some HD channels when the cable scan was done. I knew it had a HD tuner in it but didn't expect anything. The HD pictures are very, very nice. I also have it hooked up to a dvd player via component and the PQ is very nice there, also. As far as settings go, I put it on custom and just tweaked the thing to look as good as I could to my eyes. Not sure what you could do if you had it calibrated or used a calibration disc on it. I periodically rescan just in case some new channels get added. My sister just bought one this weekend when they went on sale again on my recommendation and she loves it also. So far, no problems and seems to be a great set for $300 bucks, especially since it has a slew of connections (got to love having 3 HDMI connections, also they do have a thread on Dynex sets over at AVS forum and didn't find anyone with a bad thing to say about their sets) The first time I bought this set, it was advertised in their Sunday ad, this time it wasn't. I, too, just stopped in to buy something else and there they were on sale again, but no mention in their ad last Sunday. What was strange was that they were selling the 26" for the same price as the 32".

Default Using composite cable

Hi
I have also bought Dynex DX-L32-10C and connected with HD Rogers cable box using composite cables.

My TV is showing pixels specially if something is written. Also HD Channels are also not using full space of TV screen.

Is this because of composite cables?

Thanks

Raj

That is not an acceptable connection. Try a Monoprice HDMI cable for $10 (Shipped) should help.

I bought this tv the day before Thanksgiving and it is very nice except that the picture seems inclined to be on the dark side, even on all the predefined settings. Of course I can change the custom settings to my liking but I need to have the brightness up very high in order to get something I find acceptable. I'm concerned that having the brightness cranked up high will significantly shorten the lifespan of this unit?

I've read the reviews on the BB site for this model and no one is complaining about this issue so I'm thinking should I exchange it for another?

Also, why doesn't this unit have tint or backlight settings? It seems earlier models did.
