USA San Diego Comic-Con: PlayStation Offerings!

Heading to the San Diego Comic-Con? We are too! As is Sony, bringing with it the latest and greatest from two of its upcoming PlayStation 3 games, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack In time.

Sony Computer Entertainment America is holding two invite-only events and promoting two panels, revealing exciting new info about both games and giving us a chance to go hands-on with each PS3 entry again. Team members from Naughty Dog and Insomniac Games will be present at their respective panels and Q&As, with attractive Uncharted 2 cast members also available for pestering/cat-calling.

Seriously, you going to Comic-Con? If so, official details are below.

8:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.

Join G4 and Insomniac Games as they unveil the winner of the "Captain Qwark's My Blaster Runs Hot" weapons contest and present the winner with a real-life replica of the weapon they created. Stick around after the unveiling for the hands-on premier of all new Clank gameplay.

UNCHARTED 2 Panel Discussion
Thursday, July 23
5:30-6:30 p.m.

Listen in as Naughty Dog demonstrates the performance capture process for UNCHARTED 2 and discuss how they deliver the active cinematic experience. The panel will include a Q&A with cast members and Naughty Dog staff including: Nolan North, Emily Rose, Claudia Black, Gordon Hunt, Steven Valentine, Amy Hennig, Josh Scherr, Taylor Kurosaki.

PlayStation Gaming Cocktail (RSVP Required to Attend)

God Of War III, Gran Turismo and LittleBigPlanet PSP added to the lineup!

Comic-Con is quickly approaching. How are those comic masterpieces coming along? Joystiq thinks they’ve already won, but we beg to differ. Regardless, there’s only a a little over two days left, people — put on your final touches and get those comics in!

Here’s a breakdown of what you’re playing for:

-Entry to the July 22 Insomniac Games and SCEA Comic-Con community event, co-sponsored with G4. The winner of the “Captain Qwark’s My Blaster Runs Hot” weapons contest will be announced, and they’ll be presented with a real-life replica of the weapon they created. Plus, there will be a special reveal and more.

-The following night, you’ll get special access to an exclusive PlayStation event where you’ll go hands-on with some of our biggest upcoming PS3, PSP and PSN titles. Here are just a few:
All the entry details are here, but all you need to do is use the official template above (click here for a hi-res version) and create your own Ratchet & Clank comic based on “time.” You can do it all digitally or hand draw it, but either way you must submit your comic to rcfcomiccon@gmail.com by 11:59pm (Pacific) this Friday, July 10th! Please include your name, address, and indicate whether or not you’ll be in the San Diego area on July 22nd.

Once we process the submissions, we’ll be creating a Flickr folder with all the comic strips on Monday, July 13. The comics with the most views from July 13th – July 17th will be get access to the aforementioned events on July 22nd and 23rd in San Diego, along with a guest.

For those of you that can’t make it out to San Diego, we’ve got your back. Send in your comics anyway, and the top-rated artists will receive a Comic-Con Schwag Bag, including the incredibly awesome inflatable R&C wrench pictured below.

And make sure to check out the official rules here. Must be a US resident 18 or older to win.

I totally forgot about this thread.
Right now I'm in a big dilemma, Dexter panel is still going on when the Uncharted 2 panel starts. AHHH.

It is possible to make a reasonably human looking avatar in home so it always disappoints me to see such alien, sunken-face freaks posing with these new clothes and accessories.

It would help if the preset body appearances were randomised to some degree within realistic boundaries.

There's enough free clothes now that people who make an effort look fairly unique. The UK has plenty of free designer and unbranded normal clothes, Japan has a load of the promo clothes and US has a bit of both. By the end of the year I think everyone will be happy with the free clothing.

Hmm, home discussion has a habit of taking over other threads!

They look creepy mostly because they don't have facial expressions. But yes, the customization IS difficult. I had a much easier time with Sims2 back in the day, even though I barely played it. I don't like how in Home, you're either fat or skinny, without the option to customize individual body parts. Even though I don't have much muscle, that should be an option too. Right now, guys have to PAY for muscles...lame!

And, just so something in this post is about Comic-con...
Dylan, I'm still available for Comic-con weekend, and I'm in SD!
