Default Questions on installing a new PS3 Hard-drive

I have been needing to upgrade my ps3 harddrive for a while (I only got a 20 gigger). I have some questions; so is the system data saved some where besides the harddrive? When installing a replacement HD will I loose my psn ids or anything? Basically what all can I expect to have to do to get my ps3 back to it's full functionality after installing a new drive? And what steps should I make sure to do before installing it?

Also any recomendations for a good drive? I don't wanna go too much over $100 if I don't have too. Best Buy is probably where I will pick it up from.

Thanks in advance for the help....

from what I hear all your settings are retained and you only lose saved games and any other data (videos, music, games) you had saved to the original hard drive.

I'm personally looking at getting a Seagate momentus 5400rpm 120GB drive, they cost about $90
