Ok so I have the sony bdp-s300 it can't decode the true hd and dst-hd master audio, I also have the onkyo 605 which can. So I am wondering with all these new models coming out that have hdmi 1.3, which enables bitstream output of Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio is it worth to upragde will there be any noticible difference? Already sounds good but am I missing out on anything? Can sony update the bdp-s300 to do it eventually?

they could update the 300 to internally decode lossless formats, I believe. But it will never be able to output via bitstream because its not a 1.3 player like some places have it advertised as. Me personally I would return and get the Panasonic BD10A...or wait till the newer players come out. |

Its not going to be better than PCM uncompressed, comparable, but not any better and you already get that!

I also got the S300, cause I got a pretty good deal on it. If it's still within the return period, then exchange it. I'll replace mine for a better player once the format war is over though, they'll cost less later. Hope Blu-ray wins!!

For now I am keeping my 300. It is a well built player that offers great playback. It may be update to do TrueHD and DTSHD at some point (the hardware is there) but for now it isn't. My next BD player will have to be able to Decode Everything, be atleast 1.1 compliant, 1.3a etc.
At that point I will move the 300 to my office as a 3rd bd playback area in my home. |

I just reset mine to 5.1 and turned off the center and rear speakers because I only have the tv speakers.
