Default Caved-in tweeter dome

Does it affect the performance of the tweeter if the dome is pushed or caved-in?

Yes, it can affect the function of the tweeter if it's severely pushed in. You can try using a vacuum with the hose attachment to try and pull it back out, but be careful not to damage it further. Best of luck.

From what i understand is no ( not necessarily ).If it sounds good then there's no damage to the tweeter.
I always thought to myself ,what i would do if i had a tweeter like that ?

I would try to find a real good make of tape and try to pull it out

Check out this thread i found for you

Thanks ozzman. Unfortunately, I can't access that site from work, but will check it out at home. They seem to work fine, but I think I will just exchange them. It is just such a pain to haul huge towers around all over the place.

In case you have to replace the tweeter, here is a link for Infinity speaker parts.

I would be scared to use a vaccume, maybe just a paper towel tube over the tweeter and suck it out. (insert joke of choice here....)

I would pull it out with a piece of scotch tape...... it typically leaves no residue, and is safer.

I'm replacing mine that was damaged..... just to be safe... but I can't detect any changes in the sound. I also have to get a new grill though, since all the tabs are broken off (all but one that is)

I have a friend whose 2-year-old son pushed in the tweeter on one of his studio monitors in his home studio and he told be he actually put his mouth to the tweeter and sucked it back into place.

It worked for him, but I'd write that up as a ballsy move.

(I can't tell you how many drafts of this post I had to go through to get rid of most of the double entendres.)
