Sorry for bumping this thread but I have a question regarding one of the songs used in the film. It happens around the 90-minute mark where
[Show spoiler]De Niro beats up somebody on the street in front of people and runs away while Keitel is at his girlfriend's apartment waiting for him
. It is an Italian song, but I wasn't able to identify it for years and was wondering if anyone knew this song. Out of the thousands of films I've seen, this scene is the only time where I have no idea what the song is (That I want to listen to), and I keep thinking about this every time I think about this film or Scorsese.

I just got out of a print screening. This is one I've always wanted to see projected theatrically. It was in fantastic shape, had the 70's WB logos and older changeover cues. It didn't have any fading and minimal damage only at reel changes.

I can say absolutely that while the WB Blu-ray was newer work and was sharper than the old DVD and the French BD (which seems to have been an HD version of that DVD master or at least re-used its color grading) the color grading of the old DVD/Carlotta BD is much more accurate. It's almost as if Warner tried to balance the image and dial back the warmth.
The skin tones are orangey, the reds in the bar are deep without being overdone and there's a sense of warmth that just isn't present on the Warner BD. Plus the black levels were superb. Another example: when Charlie and Teresa are talking at the dock area near the beach, its a tight shot in close up and Charlie has sunglasses on because of the sun in their faces. In the print it's a full golden light on their faces and this is mostly there on the old master-bbut dialed out entirely on the Warner BD.

Then there's that awful, stupid error on the Warner BD that has always driven me crazy where the modern logo ruins the effect of the opening narration.

I hadn't realized this had dried up and become a rumored Criterion title. I really hope it does because this practically cries out for a UHD but the HDR grading will have to be very tastefully done.

EDIT: I was able to confirm it was an original 1973 release print that Warner sent via the date codes and remarkably there was zero fading.
