Default Questions about my DLP

(1) I have a 5+ year old DLP (model HLN5065W) that for awhile, doesn't always turn-on when the power button is pressed. I end up pulling the power plug, plugging it back in and then it fires up. On rare occasion, I have to do this twice before the TV will turn on. My guess is that this is a sign that the lamp is starting to go.

Any comments would be appreciated ?????????

(2) I tried entering the service menu by pressing the sequence: MUTE, 1, 8, 2, POWER BUTTON to check the lamp usage; however, this doesn't seem to work. The TV simply turns on. What am I doing wrong ????

Any comments would be appreciated ????????
