As others have noted, removing the tape from the slipcover removes the paint. I tried a hair dryer and even Un-Du. Both resulted in the black ink getting lifted off the slipcover.

Now that I touched the area though, I'm thinking it was a bad batch of black ink. The slipcover is totally smooth underneath and for the most part, only the black ink got removed on mine.

Time to go swap slipcovers...

Not Region Free!

Just a heads up warning for others. Based on the info on this site I ordered Penguins of Madagascar UK 3D Blu-ray from the above amazon UK link and unfortunately the discs I received were locked for Region B/2 as noted on Amazon's site.

Since I really enjoyed Madagascar 3 in 3D, I thought I'd save a bit of money by ordering several 3d titles together from amazon UK, but now I'm quite disappointed that I'm stuck with this one that won't play in my region.

Says right on the page for it that it's Region B,C only.

It does after the poster that posted here added his region code report

The original Code Report from 2015 has it listed at Region A compatible so either Fox changed the coding at some point or the original report was incorrect.

Ya I went back and looked to see when it was last edited and says 3 hours ago. Whenever I'm unsure about a region I'll look up the thread in the forum here and search there as well as a lot of times the info on the main page is incorrect. If I still can't find an answer I'll ask in that thread.

Yes, thanks for noting that. I've been pretty happy with the info provided by this site so it's certainly possible that Fox has changed it in the last few years. Just hope it's not a frequent thing, it would make importing foreign blu-rays a lot trickier otherwise.

Yes, updating that page was the first thing I did. It used to say region free and I didn't want some one else to order it without being aware of the change.

DVDcompare does list most versions as region free but with extras that don't play in the other region, so evidently this is another tricky Fox release.

I guess the 3rd option if the disc just won't load rather than popping up "Region not compatible" is that the disc is bad.

Are both the 2D adn 3D discs affected?

Well I didn't buy it from CVS lol, but I did buy it cheap on eBay. Glad I did, this movie is actually pretty good. It's a really solid movie with some good humour and it stays consistent right up until the ending sequence which is a little eh but perfectly fine.

I held off buying this one for a while because I didn't think the penguins had enough entertainment value to pull off their own movie, and because I've tried to enjoy Madagascar 3 a few times now and found it to be a dreadful movie each time, but luckily this one is so much better IMO.

The 3D is typical for Dreamworks, full screen 16x9 and fairly strong. The animation is great too.

Definitely recommend if you haven't picked it up yet!

Quick Penguins 3D review: Dreamworks Studio

I finally got a chance to watch this on blu ray 3D earlier this year. Watched on my 100" 3D projector.

3D Layers: 8/10 A mix of medium to sometimes strong 3D.
3D Pop Out: Some good pop outs now and then.
3D Framing: Most shots work well for 3D with varied layering.
Overall 3D: 8/10 for mostly medium to some strong layers.

Madagascar 3 3D: 10/10
Penguins of Madagascar 3D: 8/10

And I found Penguins laugh out loud funny too. I enjoyed the story, voice acting performances a lot. I'm glad I finally got these.

Yes, worth a look for the 3D, I agree.
The film has more of their Penguin antics for fans, so that's good too.
