This is pointless to me. This is already out in 4K. Paramount please get to releasing Friday the 13th 2 thru 8 on 4K or give them to someone who will.

Nice! Hopefully this gets released in the UK so I don't have to import the Shout collection.

Maybe Paramount will release them this fall.

Not if you don't want to own the movies on each side of it in an expensive boxed set.

Yeah, unless they have something else to offer, it is pointless to those of us whom already bought the box set. However, for anyone that didn't want to spend the extra money on it when this was the only film they wanted, it's not a pointless purchase.

That said, I do agree that I hope for Friday the 13th Parts 2-8 sooner rather than later (although hopefully, without the issues that brought down the first movie's UHD).

It would've improved the movie drastically if that mask was used for the entirety of the shoot.

But even so, I still can't take the Shape seriously in H20. To me he's the least intimidating and least menacing Michael Myers in the whole series. He should've been told to study the movements of Nick Castle and/or Dick Warlock. I mean, how can anyone take this seriously?

I think it's in the way the shape is framed and the lighting (or lack there of). When you see him casually moving around like that in a full body shot, it doesn't leave you with a sense of terror. The clip you showed is definitely not the best, I'm not a big fan of the cinematography/camera work in H20. I do think Durand looks better when he's larger in the frame. The whole finale between the shape and Laurie/Keri is great to me!

I agree the mask isn't great, but I'm just talking about Shanks' performance which I definitely do like. He's got a great menace to him when the shape is thrashing about and moving very frantically which he does several times in the last third of the film.

The lighting and framing are factors, but I think the main reason is that his physicality is too awkward. He seems like some goofy guy pretending to be Myers as opposed to the real deal. When he stands or walks his legs are wide apart and his arms stick out. Looks like someone trying to look intimidating when they’re the complete opposite. I don’t think it’s entirely his fault though. The mask is pretty terrible and the pants are too long and baggy.

And as you said, some of the framing isn’t that good. This shot (with an H6 mask) is probably the best shot of Myers in the film. Too bad there couldn’t have been more of this.

The opening sequence is the high point for me.

The prologue with nurse Marion is the best part of the movie for me as well. I like that it takes place in another part of Illinois that looks similar to Haddonfield and it has a nice Halloween vibe to it. And the mask from H6 looks great the way it's lit in those scenes, even though Chris Durand isn't menacing as The Shape, he's somewhat redeemed by the mask.

Once the opening titles are over and the thrust of the story moves to California, I check out and jump to Jamie Lee grabbing the axe and hunting Michael down. But even then I can't get fully invested because of the constant mask swapping which takes me out of the movie.

Sweet, I love h20 and was sad that it had to be bundled with the crappy Curse and Resurrection. Wish we could get the scream extras but I can finally upgrade my dvd copy.

The nurse Chambers part was the start of a great film, after the opening credits it turned into a tv series pilot. At least Halloween 6 was consistent (inb4 consistently baaaad).

Yeah I was so happy to get a good Halloween movie again after 5 and 6. H20 in the theater was great, and it was actually packed, unlike when I went to see part 6 lol

I noticed this, too. I caught H20 in the theater twice when it released, and it was a packed house both times. Audience ate it up.

I've been thinking a bit about this. When Paramount put out Scream on 4K, they gave it a wide release - US, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Spain etc. - and even released it for us here in the Nordics. I don't know if the two titles are comparable like that, but I would certainly love to see H20 follow that same path. No Halloween films before Rob Zombie's H2 have been released on BD or 4K here in Scandinavia, not even John Carpenter's original, so I would personally also really welcome a wide release of one of the better entries in the series.

Yeah I don’t think they released anything up from Halloween 2 on blu ray here. They did release the last three on dvd though not long ago so I’m hoping they do put it out here on 4k.

It's not pointless if you don't want the other movies together in an expensive set

Especially considering a lot didn't want 8
