Wow, I'd forgotten this existed. Strange choice for MGM, no? Unless they just think they're cashing in on Raquel's recent passing....

Anyway, I'm definitely picking it up.

Or maybe they are a fan of Tiffany Bolling

The blu-ray will probably use the same HD master that is available on Vudu.

I think new to blu-ray titles like this and Nobody's Fool (1986) are what MGM should be concentrating on for these MOD releases because there are certain genres the boutique labels won't touch. Hopefully MGM will start dipping into the 60s and give us the remaining beach party movies which are already available in HD digitally but the boutique labels won't license.

Oh, I love when they do obscurities like this, I was just surprised they did.

I won't hold my breath, but I wish MGM would release Sergio Citti's "Bawdy Tales", from a script by Pier Paolo Pasolini. It's from 1973. It's confirmed as being with MGM. Several boutiques have told me that they aren't interested. Kino flat-out said, "Yes, it's with MGM. No, we're not interested."

Like many people, I saw THE WILD PARTY in its first release in 1975 and didn't care for it. However, I have only recently learned that the film was restored by Merchant and Ivory years later to its original version, and that the director's cut is considered to be far superior to AIP's shorter edition from 1975.

With that in mind, I may purchase this and see if the longer version is better than my recollections of the 1975 AIP release.

I had no idea this was getting a blu-ray. I watched it for the first time earlier this year after seeing Babylon and wanting to watch more movies set in/around that time period. I wish I liked it more, but it was kind of a slog. It might make a good double feature with John Byrum’s movie Inserts, which came out the same year.

Just a heads up: received this today and when I opened it the disc inside was "Play Dirty". Hopefully an isolated incident, but... check your discs!

Same thing happened to me. That was a hard return to explain to customer service.

Thanks for the heads up on The Wild Party. I've gone in and cancelled mine which I had on order from Amazon and will wait a few months until it gets sorted out.

I got my copy of play dirty from movies unlimited. I'm curious to know if the discs for the wild party ended up in the cases for play dirty.

I just called Movies Unlimited to try and explain the situation and alert them to check their stock. They're sold out of the title (so they're going to be getting a lot of returns). The guy I spoke to was clueless - kept trying to tell me they "can't open up movies to check a disc because a customer would complain they got a used movie... etc".

** just realized that Play Dirty was released on the same day, wonder if those copies have the Wild Party disc.
