^ I definitely think StudioCanal screwed the pooch with High Crime, doesn't make sense to be a genuine cut of the film. Even a US/International cut would have kept all that action back in the 70s over dialogue scenes. The missing scenes featured on the Filmart BD are of lesser quality (from a print or something), but not enough to be excluded for that reason.

Agree - it put me off the whole line, making such a mess of one of the first releases.

I had already seen the film before from an English language 35mm print about 15 years ago. That print was listed as being 100 min and despite my earlier doubts I think the running time is actually correct since it was the full version of the film (as far as I can tell) but with the alternative ending (this I remember 100%) and no ending credits at all (this I also remember 100%).

I also had a chance to briefly examine the 93 min Studio Canal version as it was on TV yesterday. I only took a look at the ending and Dear God, this is much worse than I thought. I think I can explain this without major spoilers. The Studio Canal version shows the drug courier landing at the airport, hopping into a car, then we hear the line “to the port” and then the film immediately cuts to the end credits against the port background. The climax, where the plot is wrapped and several seminal characters are killed, is missing entirely. All the footage from the port is missing, the last scene at Fernando Rey’s house is missing, and neither the original nor the alternate ending are featured in this version. It just ends in the middle of everything without any kind of wrap up or “closing shot”.

I absolutely cannot comprehend how this 93 min version came to be. It doesn’t feel like an alternative version or shortened version, but rather a faulty version where the last film reel was omitted by accident. The ending is just incredibly awkward here.

The film itself is brilliant and one of the best poliziotteschi ever made. Thank God for the German BD.
I took another look at the two versions (103 min BD vs. 93 min TV broadcast) and I realized the line "to the port" comes at 92 min in both. The 103 min version continues another 11 min after that line whereas the Studio Canal version cuts to the end credits.

I think I've seen it stated here or elsewhere that the Studio Canal print was missing 10 min, including 5 min from the climax, but it seems all of that missing 10 min actually comes from the end (if there's any footage missing before that, must be very brief). I thought I should point this out in case someone was as confused as I were.

Strangely, BBFC has rated this again, and there's a 5 second difference in the runtimes listed. No mention of any cuts though.

I'll grab 'Blazing Magnum'.

Already have the Kino Lorber 'The Antichrist' and the extras are pretty similar.

Normally he'd do his own voice in Italian but not in English hence why it is best to watch Django in Italian NOT English.

I will probably be picking up both new titles. I have the French BD of Blazing Magnum, but, while it bizarrely offers English subtitles for the feature film (on a France-only disc), it equally bizarrely offers only the Italian dubbed audio, omitting the English language audio for a film which is mostly shot in English and features multiple actors who are native English speakers.

Just to be clear, this refers to High Crime, which is a film shot in English in which Franco Nero (amongst others) dubs himself in English. To my mind, this film should be watched in English and not (as I myself once mistakenly thought) in Italian, although offering the Italian dub with English subtitles may work as a curious alternate version of the film.

In any event, anyone who hasn't seen High Crime before needs to pick up the German BD, which offers the complete film:

The UK edition removes the final 10 minutes of the film for unknown reasons. Apparently, this portion of the film was not remastered (on the German BD it is from a noticeably different source) so perhaps the error began there.

13 seconds cut for a toad being squashed would still be an issue probably.

Cheers for the info. Interestingly the Optimum DVD is fully uncut (apparently, I've not seen it myself). Not a huge deal to miss out on 13 seconds of footage just for that, but still, I'd prefer to have the option to branch it so as to see/not see the footage. Like what was done with Cannibal Holocaust, for example.

EDIT: Preordered it because sure it looks great.

Noticed there was a 5 second difference between the English and Italian versions of Blazing Magnum. I thought it might be the different titles or company logos, but they seem the same. Wondering what it might be.

I’ve just watched The Antichrist and that’s definitely in there. It’s pretty graphic so I can’t imagine it’s been cut (might be a fake toad though).

Just bought the only copy HMV Metrocentre had in stock but Blazing Magnum was nowhere to be seen. Natch.

Is the back cover of Blazing Magnum really as pictured (including the typo)?

"After his sister was poisened..."

I find spelling mistakes like that painful to look at.
