Upgrading Apple OS is more expensive. Especially given Apple's smuggy stance(with which you agree) on backwards compatibility. That is forcing the users to replace 3 year old hardware because... So, in what world all that is cheaper or more user friendly I dunno, besides Apple zealot land of course.

So, what does Apple do, check every buyer's criminal record?

Do pay attention to the conversation, I'm sure it's hard to keep up what with your lack of reading comprehension and all, but we're discussing Microsoft and Operating systems.

I know, I use Office for Mac quite extensively.

What's your point?

Actually, I shelled out about the same amount of money for the same stuff, deals ARE out there if you know where to find them.

That and, I needed something that ran Final Cut Pro for Video Editing.

I don't own anything that's even remotely close to 3 years old. And if I did, I have a 3 year old Toshiba Satellite {you know, the one's with the massive battery issues?} that I can plug older hardware into.

Yes, but even if that's true, they don't specifically mention the NAME of the competition in their ads.

So far as I know that was against the law.

Most of the Windows operating system was parroted by Mac, anyone who uses both can realize that.

By the way, you with all your less than 3 years old hardware, kind of contradict what Apple is repeating to ad nauseam, that it is PCs who break down in 2 years and Macs last forever...
Now when we have argument about Mac's lack of backwards compatibility suddenly the users who have old hardware are in the wrong.
So, logically thinking, macs last forever, but you have to replace hardware every 2-3 years and pay hefty premium for the honor.
You're dong good job promoting Macs

Sure, in generals terms everything good is from Apple and copied by others.
I was curious if you had anything better than that to say, any specific example, but as far as I can see no, that's not the case. You simply are parroting apple evangelists.

Funny thing is, everytime I see those "I'm a mac, I'm a PC" commercials I am glad I have a PC. The suit is way cooler.

Actually, the reason why I updated all my hardware was because I was tired of waiting 3 hours for a 3 minute render for video editing on the PC.

If you'd bother looking into other threads {like the Mac users thread} I just updated to a Mac recently so I can use Final Cut Pro 6. In transferring to Mac from a 3 year old PC laptop.

So your logic not only fails, but falls flat on it's face.

As much as I like interrupting you running around in circles chasing your tail trying to find holes in my arguments, you're making yourself look kind of silly when trying to throw things at me that won't stick. It's not even remotely logical, and really rather amusing.

Quote:

Read the thread, I'm not going to read it back to you. I do many things, but holding your hand isn't one of them.

Pull the other one.

I see we've devolved into 'netspeak' in order to talk.

Maybe if I push you a bit further you'll just start posting things that are totally incomprehensible {that means that no one other than you would be able to read it}

I might be quoting apple evangelists, but I'm betting that Bill Gates has said many of the same things that you've said over and over again, it's like talking with people who own 360's.

Why is is that the Mac vs. PC debates always involve two idiots barking at each other how their computer is better than the other's? As bretallica said, it's a personal preference. Having one over the other won't make a difference for the most part. I can't use Macs because my CAD software for engineering is a Windows only program.

But if I ever decided to get alaptop I would get a Mac. Their multi-touch mouse pad actually works as well as a mouse. No PC out there has those capabilities.

I used to be a PC supporter and argued endlessly with Mac fanboys until I realized that we both come out looking like total idiots. That's exactly what this bickering is doing for you guys. Just a bunch of BS if you ask me.

For the record, if the rendering speeds is that critical, you might consider OCing, but again, with Macs that's not really an option. Apple is above that, I presume...

You know, it is very strange to say the least that you need so much CPU power and decide to go with the LAPTOP. On top of that, video editing involves significant amount of hard drive space and access, and potentially you'd need a powerful graphics card. And for all that you pick a laptop? You must render all that stuff while sipping your coffee in Starbucks or what?
And I have to believe you're serious about any of it?

No, debate is more about why Apple is right no matter what they do and MS and the rest of the world is wrong, no matter what they do. Including their gripes with MS adds which are somehow much more unfair than Mac vs.PC adds for years.

What part of the sentence 'upgrade my hardware' didn't you understand?

If you upgrade, you don't get the exact same thing as 3 year old tech.

As that would be kinda stupid.

Plus, if you knew as much about computers as you claim, {which apparently you don't} you'd know that FCP is only available for Mac.

Why would I?
Because you carry over other conversations from other threads, one might assume that you'd do a bit more research before stuffing your foot down your throat.

That's why I use external hard drives for some of it, do the work on the computer then offload the files to {or from} various hard drives that I have then prepare the video for the customer {or myself} via DVD or Blu-Ray.

Quote:

Wow, lucky you're {apparently} involved with computers, as I'd have to have to deal with you as someone who teaches English.

The first quote was with regards to Mac ads not naming Microsoft in their ads {legal} and the second was with regards to Microsoft actively naming their competition in ads {which is not legal}

Yes, you certainly do don't you?

You should probably have that checked out. Maybe with a scrotal exam.

I prefer portability, especially when I have to drag the laptop {which has all my settings set up the way I want them} to a client and show them what I have available and re-adjust things for them instead of having them all show up to my place.

I can't tell you guys how much the scene with Long (the irony) in "Drag me to hell" where his printer is busted because of a paper clip made me laugh to no end.

The whole scene is Mac sponsored (he needs no less than two Imacs to do his job apparently), but somehow I don't think it reflects too well on the most basic tech knowledge for Mac users

Compared to any computer that's 3 years old, my current computer wins.

That should pretty-much go for anyone who's just upgraded their equipment.

But seriously though, that's a pretty lame leap from someone who's apparently using logic. With the amount that you're stretching, you might just fall off your chair.

Not to mention the fact that it's been mentioned repeatedly that I'm not a fanboy by any stretch, the only reason I got involved in the thread is because PC users {you know, the guys that use 'U' instead of 'you'} started hacking on Apple folks for no apparent reason.

As far as I can tell, logic s very different for you and me. Logically one would assume being able to resize a window from4 corners + 4 sides is faster and more convenient than just 1 corner. Yet, you argue the later is better.
So, what logic are you talking about?

Unless you will be more specific, can't help. I looked up his last post, and I think I gave quite detailed answer to Toefer. Besides, if you could, you'd do it already. What's this 5 year old "you do it first" anyway?

the PC commercials crack me up cause the are so obviously reaching for things, like the commercial where the girl says oh gosh the apple is so expensive, and then buys a 900 dollar pc, which will of course get viruses up the wazoo crash repeatedly, be taken in for repair and reboots, tons of lost data and end result is a pain in the ass that costs far more then a mac

i have both a PC and a MAC, i only use the pc when the mac is doing something else for me. And i despise every minute of it, its like going back in time to use a piece of electronic that does nothing right, nothing easy, and pretty much leaves me wanting to pull my hair out, on the other hand i LOVE my mac and wish i would have switched sides sooner

I think its pretty obvious that the MAC commercials bash PC alot harder then PC could ever bash MAC, and unless you are damn near a hacker and can build your pc's mac is the way to go
