I'm getting ahead of the curve for the inevitable flop of Blue Beetle and will now be calling it Black & Blue Beetle. Ugly weekend upcoming if tracking okays out.

It looks like whoever is putting out BACK ON THE STRIP knows they have a dud on their hands. It wasn't screened for critics. And in most of the theaters near me, it's only having one showing per day.

It looks like another much ado about nothing weekend at the movies. Where are the days when you had several great movies each and every weekend of the summer? Oh, that hasn't happened since the 80s...

My Regal has it playing twice and the first showing starts at 6:40pm that Friday it opens.

I think tracking moved up to mid 20's?

Because it is being released in 3,850 theaters, it could be in some rarified air with its per screen average. Not Reminiscence bad, but still quite bad.

To be fair, it wasn't made or intended to be even in for the count in the first place.

$25 million opening weekend...well, at least it's better than the $13-$17 mil opening they were predicting a month ago

$25.4M domestic opening for Blue Beetle. Lowest DCEU opening since WW84 (and even then, that had the pandemic).

Blue Beetle opened to $25.4M domestically. If that's not bad enough we are waiting for the international numbers to come in, and from I've read they are truly awful.

Only $18M overseas this weekend. Nearly 25% of that came from Mexico and Brazil. It was DOA, they should have shelved this like they did Batgirl.

What was wrong with what I posted, Creasy? Is it where I said "overseas" and not "internationally"?

I think it’s with the film being shelved. I personally don’t believe any finished film, regardless of quality or potential box office takings, should be indefinitely shelved.

I read this thread, but don't post. I had to say though - there is one member who never misses a moment to single out a film's disappointing box-office. The worst part is this poster appears to revel in the negativity. I don't understand the purpose. It's perplexing because their avatar is from a movie that was a box-office disappointment.
