Smile Onkyo Tx-sr607

i recently upgraded my 5.1 JVC (100W/ch) receiver to the Onkyo TX-SR607 (90W/ch, 7.2).

what a difference!

between upgrades i added 2 rear speakers in order to be 7.1 ready.

after getting everything hooked up I ran the Audyssey speaker setup and was amazed at the difference in sound quality. the room seems more alive with sound than it use to.

setup was easy and would be easier (on screen) if i had a HDMI ready TV (i have an older CRT TV and use component video). my Panasonic BluRay connected without problems and all the blueray sound formats decode perfectly.

I haven't had any issues with it, though, through no fault of their own, the remote codes don't work seamlessly with my Harmony remote. i had to jump through a couple hoops to get all the features to work properly.

even though i went down in power, the sound actually sounds better. I'm driving BIC DV-62 front speakers and DV-52's for the rear surrounds. the side surrounds are BIC America Muro M-50 IN-WALL Speakers which are compatible with the DV-52s.

I haven't found a really good 7.1 scene in which to really show off the system for a demo, but i'm sure i'll find one soon.

I highly recommend this receiver...very good features for the price.

to name a few...

I am suprised to hear your having issues with the harmony remote. I have the Harmony One and can control everything i own (even my HDMI switch) and it can do every, single command that the original equipment remote can. Look into an update from Logitech; again, I'm surprised.

I am also looking into this particular receiver model ...... to power my Polk TSI300 and CS10 ...... currently using my Yamaha RXV430 .....

OT: For advance users .... the Harmony 525 is really a bit pain to use..... but it gets the job done and am satisfied with just seeing one remote on the center table
