Default Onkyo TX-SR607 7.2 Channel Official Thread

Onkyo TX-SR607

Onkyo-TX-SR607.jpg

Quote:
Stunning Balance of High-Definition Formats, Upscaling Video, and All-Round Versatility

The TX-SR607 raises the bar once again in the competitive world of mid-range home theater. With HDMI 1.3a inputs for up to six components, it’s ready to handle all your high-definition video and audio needs. Whether it’s a Blu-ray Disc player, a cable or satellite box, or a gaming console, your video signals will be traveling first class. Lower-resolution analog video signals, meanwhile, can be upscaled to 1080i and fine-tuned by Faroudja DCDi Edge™. HDMI version 1.3a also transports the master-quality HD audio formats, DTS-HD Master Audio™ and Dolby® TrueHD. The very latest Dolby technology, Dolby® Pro Logic® IIz, enhances the spatial sensation of music, movies, and video games by letting you incorporate front height channels. The TX-SR607 packs an array of convenient connectivity options, allowing you to incorporate HD Radio, iPod® and MP3 players, SIRIUS™ Satellite Radio, and more. Four specialized gaming modes, Audyssey room-correction technologies, and Zone 2 capability add the gloss to what is a phenomenal all-round package.
Special Features

* Six 1080p capable HDMI inputs (5 rear/1 front)
* PLIIz new surround format for higher dimension
* Analog to HDMI video upconversion by Faroujda DCDi
* WRAT technology and discrete amp construction for cleaner sound
* TrueHD/DTS-HD decoding to support the latest Blu-ray technology
* Optional iPod Dock / HDradio module via proprietary U.Port

Is this even out yet? I have a 606..but I'm just curious.

+1, got to agree here....I say work on getting more 7.1 soundtracks out before we start worrying about 9.1.

Good question? Not sure my self, other than to reinforce that 9.1 is not necessary right now.

Regardless, what I do like about this is that it is 7.2. That does peak my interest quite a bit.

6 HDMI ports.....nice. 9.1 should not a concern till 7.1 is as common as 5.1, or in the ballpark anyway, & if you really want 9.1/2/3/4 you can have it right now.

Isnt 9.1 just 7.1 with a dual mains? Something with 2 elevated channels in the front?

I read (on another thread) that it helps with filling the void with transition from mains to center and also gives more dynamic to the front mains.

The way i understand it, it is another angle in the front main spectrum. The speakers are placed above the main at an angle..

Go to A Guide to Home Theater Audio Codecs thread. There are a couple of diagrams there for PLIIz.

That sounds really interesting......has it been verified that you can hear a more dynamic soundstage with dual mains? If you could provide the link to that other thread, I would really appreciate it.

EDIT: Sorry Big Daddy, you posted just before I did (I walked away from my desk for a little while typing). Thanks for the link!

I looking foward to the 807 series. I know the 607 is cool, but personally I want my receiver to stand out. I love the blue light at the volume knob and most of all I like a stout amplifier. I talking 60lbs and pretty tall with a 2 or 3 line display

I love my 805 but it's only got 3 HDMI inputs and I could really use 1 more right now and looking into the future it would be nice to have a grand total of 6 HDMI inputs and 2 outputs.

The 605/606 can't matrix out 5.1 to 7.1 lossless. Has anyone confirmed that the 607 will be able to matrix out lossless audio up the the presence channels?

Also- the 807 will probably be along the lines of the 806 in that it's not going to have the same offerings the 805 did. Dunno that I'd rush out to upgrade.

Maybe. Perhaps they'll revise the entire model.
