Very positive comments about 3D all around. I really hope we get a 3D Blu-ray in Japan. The only option that wouldn't leave me more than extremely disappointed if there were no more Movienex Edition would be if Disney, like Universal, licensed a 3D Blu-ray in Germany to the successor to RSM.

The great thing about the 3D is the space scenes have an awesome sense of depth. I can’t imagine watching this movie in 2D and I hope I won’t have to.

Thumbs up

3D Review: The Marvels 3D:
Cinemark theater, right center row, sat upright for the best angle of the Real D 3D glasses and screen. Brightness/contrast looked great. No projection issues.
3D Preview: Disney animated CGI Wish 3D: Medium layers, really nice though for the 3D and visuals.

3D Layering: 9/10. Medium to strong 3D layering throughout, with strong 3D shots mixed in every few minutes or so. It looks great in 3D like the trailer.
3D Pop Outs: Pop outs? I guess there are some but the movie doesn't really focus on this much at all from what I saw. Nothing made me flinch or say, "Oh, cool pop out there."
3D Framing: Most of the framing is good for 3D, with foreground, mid and background in 3D space. Some great shots in 3D.
Favorite 3D shot: There are quite a few, but my favorite would be when they're in the pilot's seat looking away into the screen, blasting into different dimensions.
3D Conversion errors: A very nice conversion and I barely noticed any issues. There's a warping reality scene, that gets a pass for conversion errors as the shot was meant to be strange and surreal. Only thing is, during some of the stronger 3D shots, picture a bright light against a dark background. Because current 3D glasses cannot filter out ALL light in the other eye, there are traces of ghosting/cross talk going on at times. If those were mild shots of 3D, it wouldn't be noticeable. I believe it's a big reason Tron Legacy went with mostly mild 3D, because of all of the potential ghosting.
3D Summary: 9/10 for the 3D in my view. There are a very good number of strong 3D shots sprinkled throughout, but the film is not consistently strong 3D, and is mostly 80% or so medium 3D layers, which look very good here. Those strong 3D shots are fun to watch and earn it a 9/10 from 8.

Captain Marvel I'd say had more strong 3D shots, but The Marvels is not far behind with a good number of strong 3D shots mixed with medium layers of 3D. It looks great overall in 3D and was fun to watch in 3D.

The movie is generally entertaining and the whole switching between 3 characters was an original concept I don't remember seeing in a Marvel film yet the way it's presented here. I liked the movie but if it's only in 2D on disc, I'll hold off. It needs to be on blu ray 3D for me to purchase the film. The 3D would be worth importing for sure in this case.

This film's 3D wipes out the just okay 3D in Rise of the Beasts in my viewings.

[Show spoiler]ROTB opening (a few frames later overtaken by Unicron lol):

The Marvels (from trailer):

Bonus (a favourite of mine) Monsters vs Aliens opening:

That is a recurring image I enjoy a lot in stereo!

Unfortunately, ROTB had fairly weak 3D in my opinion, including the space shots and definitely not enough sequences featuring strong 3D period. I wish I could revisit it but it never released on home 3D :/ My favourite 3D space shots in Transformers would probably be those from Dark of the Moon, and thankfully that one is on disc!
Agreed about Rise of the Beasts being unimpressive for 3D. This is so much better and Marvel's 3D is on track here for sure.

This is my opinion about (almost) every Marvel movie. Most of them should be watched only in 3D.

Thanks. That sequence in ROTB was the best 3D in the movie, I'd put it above any 3D space sequence in Valerian or GotG3.

Y'know, I don't recall Monsters vs Aliens having strong 3D, I remember it having a lot of fun frame breaks though. I might have to revisit it with different setups then.

A little surprising for a movie with as many strong pop-outs as this that you wouldn't remember

When I saw it, the only strong 3D that I saw was in the climax when the ship flies through the canyon. I have the disc, maybe I'll spin it up in PSVR to test.

I think this will get a disc, but the bigger question is does it matter?

With Apple Vision just round the corner this will be streaming in 4K? HDR? IMAX? Atmos? Probably all of the above? The disc will have none of that. We are seeing 3d blu ray superceded for the first time.

Its still streaming crap and nobody gives a shit about Apple vision its not something to watch with other people either. Not to mention it cost an arm and you do not own it either.

Apple Vision can do what it likes, but I hope this still gets a 3-D disc.

4K-3D streaming, even if it becomes a thing, is no replacement for having a physical copy of 3-D films. Even if "only" at HD resolution (which is more than adequate).

Anyway, since almost all pre-existing 3-D content would simply be upscales to 4K rather than native 4K, would it even be worth it? May as well just send out a 3-D stream at 1080p, perhaps with an updated HDR color space, and have the Apple Vision hardware do the upscaling like any blu-ray player or TV. Would use a lot less internet bandwidth that way, and my guess is 99% of people wouldn't know the difference (if there even were one).

I'm just gonna say it. The Marvels has 3D even better than Captain Marvel. It's the first MCU sequel to surpass the 3D of its predecessor since Thor Ragnarok. Stereo gold from start to finish. Vertigo-inducing depth, thoughtful layers, mesmerizing volume. Even Kamala's doodles were in 3D. It makes Guardians 3 look like it was 1D.

As for the movie itself, I thought it was a perfectly harmless good time. All three leads had time to shine together and solo. I liked Carol and Monica's tenuous reunion and I loved Kamala fangirling all over the place. The quantum switching made for some inventive action. There are two musical numbers, and the latter is one of the most gloriously bizarre sequences of the year. It was a fun ride I'd gladly go on again, and the epilogue and post-credits scene got me hyped for what's coming next. All in all, a very good Marvel movie, no more no less.

Just here to add another positive review to the tally, the 3D is pretty good, and the film is tailormade for the 3D experience, no pop-outs of any sort, I thought the Flerkens' tentacles would pop out or something like that, and the action sequences and the space scenes have some fabulous 3D moments.

The film is also not that bad as people are calling it online, although it does have some cringeworthy moments here and there, and some underwhelming aspects (for me) but overall this is a fun time at the cinemas. Here's hoping this gets a MovieNEX 3D Blu-ray in Japan as always.

Yeah, there are subtitles when Kamala Khan's family members speak in Urdu/Hindi.
