Default Rank the studios from best catalogue to worst

How does everyone rank the following studios?

I would say:

1. Warner Bros (Good thing they're at least neutral. Too many great movies to list)
2. Disney (All the kids movies and Bruckheimer movies, Narnia...)
3. FOX (Star Wars, Alien, lots of comedies)
4. Universal (Good classic horrors, Back to the Future and some gangster)
5. Paramount (but w/o Speilberg's or Coppola's, they'd be 6th)
6. MGM (mostly for James Bond)
7. Sony (sorry Sony, but aside from Spiderman and Pursuit of Happyness, I can't think of anything else I really liked)

And Miramax is my favorite indie studio. They're catalogue from the mid-80's to the mid-90's is priceless. But the Weinstein's only make GARBAGE now.

Ha,

You forgot about Leon, no? Wouldn't that be considered Sony?

I have to say the Almadovar films will be Sony Pictures Classics and I will buy them all as I can. (Already have Volver.)

Some people ding Fox for no extras but that's fine with me, I never watch the extras and would rather attention be given to the feature itself in the mastering process.

Perhaps my list would look like this..

1) Disney including Miramax (Pixar, Animated titles like Beauty and the Beast, Kill Bill, ect.)
2) Fox (bring on Star Wars and Alien, plenty of good HT stuff.)
3) Sony (Sony Pictures Classics and stuff like Underworld and David Gilmour, Pink Floyd)
4) WB
5) Universal (Jaws, Scarface, American Warewolf in London, and on and on.)
6) MGM ( Have to have the James Bond but there's plenty of other stuff I like from MGM
7) Paramount

Oh, I didn't know Leon was Sony. And forgot about Curse of Golden Flower and Crouching Tiger. And I didn't know they had the rights to all those older movies. And if Miramax is included with Disney, I'd rearrange them like so:

1. Disney (All the kids movies, Bruckheimer movies, Narnia, but mostly for Miramax: English Patient, Shakespeare in Love, etc)
2. Warner Bros (Good thing they're at least neutral. Too many great movies to list)
3. FOX/MGM (Star Wars, Bond, Alien, lots of comedies)
4. Sony (Leon, Spiderman, Pursuit of Happyness, foreign movies)
5. Universal (Good classic horrors, Back to the Future and some gangster)
6. Paramount (Godfathers, Indiana Jones)
7. Lionsgate
...
143. Weinstein (crap and more crap, and some garbage and junk)

1)Warner - Lots of classics and modern stuff.

2)Sony - Love their modern day action pics

3)Fox - Good libaray of Sci-Fi classics and is a great modern day studio

4)Disney - Classic kids stuff + Miramax + Touchstone

5)Universal - Great 30s horror studio, great TV studio of the 60s, 70s and somewhat 80s, (because of old libaray BD releases can wait!) past classics - lack of blockbusters in recent times

6) Paramount
- ??? Good movies now and again!

As a rentailer/retailer I'll give you my opinion.
1) Warner is number 1 as far as total quantity and quality.
2) Sony, I don't think you understand just how big their catalogue is
3) Disney (this was a close 3/4)
4) Fox/MGM
5) Universal
6) Paramount/Dreamworks
7) Newline
8) LionsGate

1) Sony Pictures - One of the if not the biggest film companies in the world. Columbia - United Artists. Sony is a GIGANTIC company and makes a ton of movies. It is hard to over state how many films Sony owns the rights to. That is all I have to say about Sony - HUGE!
2) 20th Century Fox - They also own MGM. I am one a HUGE Simpson fans so I am biased right off the bat. They also own the indie studios (Starz Home Entertainment) that are releasing Dawn/Day of the Dead, Anchor Bay Films. I love those movies with a passion. I am also a nut for Evil Dead.
Plus Fox released some of my favorite movies Fight Club and Empire Strikes Back. So between X-men; Die Hard; Star Wars; The Simpsons; and Fight Club I love Fox. Outstanding television as well (Arrested Development, 24, Prison Break, Simpsons).
3) Buena Vista - They own the rights to the Miramax films (they owned Miramax for a long time) so Pulp Ficition - Kill Bill. Sin City is a Buena Vista film. They are not just Disney. Sure they have Pixar but they have a gigantic catalogue. Remember that Touchstone is Buena Vista company (Wes Anderson movies anybody). ABC TV programing and to my happiness Scrubs is a Buena Vista production.
4)Lions Gate - I love edgy movies. Saw, American Psyco, Devil's Rejects; Crash. Lions Gate is a great studio and I love what they do. Resevouir Dogs - Dogma. Great new studio making outstanding movies.
5) WB - Huge catalogue. They own New Line. Great Animation and LOTR. They own DC Comics so they have rights to all of their films. Batman, V, Superman, The Watchmen when it comes out. The Matrix. However they release on HD DVD so they get docked a couple of points for helping an inferior format.

Universal and Paramount are dead to me.
